Moto Academy NZ seeks rider for 2009 season

Moto Academy NZ is now seeking one rider to complete the new group for 2009.
You will preferably be between 14 and 20 years of age, small to medium stature, able to at least ride a bike and willing to invest your time, effort and abilities in learning the basics of motorcycle roadracing.

$5995 + GST will get you a season of tuition, testdays and racing on a late model Honda RS125 GP motorcycle, leathers, boots, gloves, backprotector and helmet provided. You get to keep the helmet.

Damnit I wish someone would hurry up and buy my bikes, I wouldn't have to wait till next year... So that means there's all but one spot taken on the 125's? Just out of interest, do you have a 250 rider?

We are not running the 250 any more, or at least not this year.

It is currently for sale, but we will see how things pan out as to whether we do actually sell it.

That was a special situation that suited us and Glen at the time, but in many ways distracted from the true core of Moto Academy.

But it really showed everyone, who was truely watching, the real value of racing 250s, and Glens abilities to actually race and race hard, not just ride around for a Sunday ride (even though it was mostly on Saturday).

There is no substitute for them in my opinion and there are alot of "racers" who could take a leaf out of his book.

All you fullas out there worrying about trying to pay run 600s should look for a 250!! There are two really excellent ones for sale in Murray de Lacys garage right now! Waaaay cheaper than a 600 overall.

But seriously, while Moto Academy NZ does have a vision to "find" our next international champ, our primary goals are to give new and young racers the right grounding in the rules, the ettiquette, the safety, situational awareness, skill sets, interactions within the sport so that they can then move on with a modicum of solid knowledge and abilities to their own teams or to other teams (eg Bernard, RRR, Osbourne etc). What Glen has been offered this season is precisely what we were hoping would happen and why we started out on this harebrained scheme.
If we can get a great young NZ rider into Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup then all the better. At the very least they get the experience of heading over there to give it a go.
