HV Line Insulators - any clues?

OK, no bike stuff here - just a bit of help needed please.

Vicki has had a couple of strings of those big glass saucer type power line insulators laying around for yonks - yes - legally obtained thanks, ie they are rooted. Vicki reckons that with a bit of imagination they would make a great water feature (I reckon they would make excellent land fill).........

I see how they clip together one unit to the next but how is the glass dish attached to the metal core and how do I un attach one?

I know we have some power line dudes here - any advice?

Not like the one I had lying around here...

The glass may well be cast around the core, which would make it tricky. Tell you who might know, Oldrider or Jantar.
