    Talking My first bike!

Found a Honda cbr150r on trade me in Rotorua. Looked at it in town last Wednesday and decided to get it.

So, last Friday mum and I went to town to pick it up. I hadn’t ridden on the road before oops! Anyway, stalled at the first intersection.....a few times.....rode to the Lake road lights....you guessed it, stalled again. Down Lake road to the Koutu lights and we have to turn left onto Old Taupo road. There’s a car in front of me and mum behind me on her hornet. The car takes off, I look for traffic then take off too. Trying to concentrate on NOT stalling I don’t turn enough and go up the traffic island for a few metres and then back on the road! Mum's freaking out All I could think was “It’s ok it’s ok, don’t worry, just keep going like nothing happened and it’ll be ok!” so I did. We get to Pete’s....I’m giggling with embarrassment and mum’s shaking in her boots!! Haha Sorry mum!!

I left my bike at Pete’s that night and went back in the morning to practise around the industrial area.

Saturday.....ride around the industrial area for a couple of hours practising taking off and stopping and what not. Well that got boring fast! Finally got the courage to ride out to Hamurana. Didn’t stall at the lights! YAY! What an achievement! So we get to the Hamurana reserve and i do a few laps then go up Te Waerenga road and back down again. FUUUUN!

Rode home after that. THANKYOU Pete!

    Much more confident now.

Done over 250 kilometres ’s and still have a quarter of a tank left.

    Happy, Happy! Joy, Joy!

Welcome to the wonderful world of bike riding. Keep on practising and take care for your poor moms sake. See if you can hook up with a mentor/ more experienced rider and pick up some tips, it's easier than learning the hard way. KB survival skills and the 250 forums are useful to.
    Goodluck and enjoy.

    Blah

At least there's only one first time!
I'm so glad we have a Pete to teach you to ride cos every one knows mums only nag.
You're doing really well now...keep up the practice and dont get too cocky.
Next step is to lose the L-plate so you're not a target.

    Have fun and stay safe.

Congrats to you! Your write-up brings back the memories of when I picked my bike up......stalling and I dropped it! You can never have too much practice and that includes the slow stuff. Good on you.

Best thing to remember and something i have to keep telling myself everytime i ride is look to where you want to go and you will go there. When going slow if you look just beyond your front tyre you will barely turn and probably get the wobbles. If you look through the turn it all becomes stable and the bike just follows. But hey im new and my advice is probably crap

No! You're right! I'm sure that traffic island jumped out infront of me though
