    Scorry's Sound of Thunder

had a bit of hard luck is all I can say, mostly my fault and lots learnt.

    Race one, Superstock Ltd
I got a shit start from pole (1st lap was qualifying so i just rode like a mad man and passed heaps of people and managed to get to the front) anyways I ballsed up the start and was 12th comin into the 1st corner, went round the outside of 2 motards using the rumples as extra track, went up the inside of the guy who got 2nd motard at the summer series at Ruapuna at pot hole, which took some balls, he wasn’t expecting that for sure lol.
Then I passed another few bikes, got real sideways comin out of one of the long right hander goin up the inside of another motard, worked my way to 4th for the end of the first lap.
Then me and the guy in 3rd (some sort of ducati road bike) had an awesome battle for a couple of laps, till I stuck it up the inside coming into the right hander after the hairpin, missed my apex and tried to turn in harder to fix my line, then out goes the front and im slidin towards the rumple strip thinking this is gonna hurt, so I got on my hands and knees so my hip wouldn’t take the impact.
Managed to pick my bike up, seemed like it took ages to start but I managed to get back out there, pass a couple of guys and finished 11th out of around 40 so I was pretty happy.

    Race 2, fourmula 2
Well the weather shat itself, it was pissn down.
I went out on my ‘wets’, my wets were pilot powers, admittedly they worked pretty good in the wet.
Reasonably quiet race, much better start, passed a couple of guys on motards who had full wets so that put my confidence up a bit.
    Finished a comfortable 7th out of 25.

    Sunday, Superstock Ltd
Started in 11th this was second row cos they had everyone 8 wide which was pretty cool.
Got passed a few in the first couple of corners again, worked my way up to 5th until my rear tyre started cookin itself, it was slidin all over the place, which was good fun comin into the corners but really slow, got passed by a couple of guys in the last few laps and finished 8th.

    Formula 2
Ok I was sick of the pilot powers by now, so I put my rear slick on and hoped it would hold up better.
Sure enough it was much better, got a ok start and managed to pass a few people into the first corner again.
Took a second off my fastest lap time for the day and finished in 9th.

    Time for the bracket racing
I was a bit worried about this, not sure why.
Wasn’t quick enough to get on the first 2 rows, so I started on the third row.
Got my best start of the whole weekend, passed a heap of people in the first half of the first lap.
I was the first motard in the field and came out of the dipper real hard on the inside of some sort of triumph and was beside him goin into the last corner, don’t think he knew that though cos he started headin out towards my side of the track and ended up leavin me no where to go but to take the ‘motard section’ on the outside of the corner.
Lots of bikes got passed but I got back on the track real sideways I must add.
Got passed a couple but finished 21st out of over 40.

    Race 2
Once again I got a very average start, picked up a couple of places but had a awesome battle with a couple of ducati's and a buell, i could get passed all 3 of them during one lap, then they would pass me down the straight.
Did this for 3 laps in a row, then one drifted wide and i never seen him again, then on the last lap i seen heaps of sparks comin off the buell. His pipe had fallen off and was draggin on the ground round left handers, so he pulled off and i ended up 15th.

I went out for the last flying farewell just for a bit of fun.
Pulled some pretty cool wheelies out of the dipper every lap, last couple of laps I tried to wheelie the straight but the head wind had me buggered and I could only get to the finish line.

Overall I had a ball of a weekend, stoked I did ok against the other motards and am looking forward to the up coming winter series both at Teretonga and Levels.
    Bring on the weekend

Dunno about that Minefield isn't that challenging and Levels and Ruapuna would suit Motards much better

A few years back at Levels they even ran an offroad section for the Motards as well but I haven't seen it done since

You doing the BEARs winter series Scorry?
