Yep it did all build up to the point where I put a 3rd form guy in hospital (I was 6th form.) Not proud of that. I have been in a few scraps since then (I was an angry young man) but I'm happy now and don't have to prove nothing to nobody.

Apparently I'm a fairly big guy now (big Dave is bigger as are a few others) and I apparently intimidate people by my size - 6'4" & 115kgs.I'm accused of being a thug and a bully which is based solely on visual perception of me. I don't do it on purpose or intentionally bully people but I'm accused of it all the time. Yes, I do fiercely protect people I care about but I don't instigate things.

Fighting is something that you should do only if there is no other option. What did Kenny Rogers sing? "Sometimes you have to fight to be a man" on the other hand an old saying is "The best fights I've won, were by 100 metres or more"

I should have use that 100 metre thing years ago. Walking to a Night club in Hamilton (Lady H i think?) I saw a guy beating a female down an allyway, I called out to my mates and when I turned around I was met by this size 9 fist right on the snout, a fight got underway soon after banging up against glass windows and parked cars..then the bouncers got involved..yeah I should have left well alone.

I used to be picked on at school - a lot. I was given the high school biff many, many, many times and can pretty much remember winning none of them - which was of course why they fought me - because people never pick fights with someone they think is going to beat them.

Its not a fight - its bullying.

Left school - trained (a lot) and got pretty good at it. Worked as doorman for several years in a fairly rough public bar requiring the occasional smack on an almost nightly basis. Fought competitively - did OK and won more than I lost.

Went back to my hometown and the same guys who used to pick on me at school did the same thing as grown men (well in their 20's). I wrapped a pool cue around one of their heads - I knew it was dangerous - but I didnt care - all the rage from high school came flooding back - and one poor fucker ended up paying for it.

Another incident and I ended up hurting the guy badly - I thought I had killed him (he hit his head when unconscious). Was my 3rd assault charge. Was very lucky to keep out of jail.

    Moral of the story:

1 - Being picked on at school can affect you later in life.
2 - Even if you win the fight you can lose in the end.

The last fight (where the guy hit his head) was the last one I ever had. I left the country and started a new life (and focused on getting a career).

I go a long way to avoid fights at all cost now. Fighting is for chumps. You cannot win, only lose.

Whenever you get in a fight there is always a chance of a loss of life (like when the guy hits his head) - is it really worth the chance of being killed (or killing someone)?

For me - nope. Its always better to walk away.

I know someone very much like that. He used to work as a bouncer at pubs. One night a "patron" turned on him with a bottle or a knife or somesuch, and he ended up in hospital for his trouble. My friend ended up on an assault charge, and it was made worse for him because he was an amateur heavyweight boxer, so his fists were that much more dangerous than the average joe's.

The best thing to do if someone is intimidated is bitch slap them.
    Positive reinforcement is good.

I know a ex-bouncer that bitch slapped a punter one night, ended up on an assualt charge. Apparently he broke the guys jaw in four places all from a open handed slap.

Video evidence backed up the bouncer, showed him slapping the guy after being abused pushed and swung at.
His defence was look at the size of me compared to him, if you think I hit him with a closed fist do you think he'd be here today giving evidence.
Admittedly he is 6'4"ish and 120+kgs, ex military, hand to hand combat trained, other guy was 5'nothing and about 60kgs.

I agree with Tank though 100%, being bullied is not getting into a fight, and bullying is not always physical.

maybe we all need to talk to Captain Chris from www.closecombattraining.com

Captain Chris Pizzo is an unarmed combat instructor for members of the US & UK Special Forces and dozens of military and para-military professionals and mercenaries around the globe.

He is a fomer military interrogator (trained to extract information from enemy combatants) and has black belts in 5 different martial arts—including karate, judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

He is also a US Gold Medal Grappling Champion, Silver Medal Grapplers Quest National Champion, and has 147 trophies and medals in dozens of martial arts and fighting styles.

However, despite all his martial arts training and awards, several years ago Captain Chris and his wife were attacked in a vicious road-rage incident that left him beaten within an inch of his life.

Broken, humiliated and mad as hell, he realized true self defense has nothing to do with "martial arts"... and martial arts was actually getting people hurt, crippled and even killed on the streets.

Scraping together what little money he had, and calling in every military favor he could find, Captain Chris travelled the world in search of the "perfect" fighting style that would work for anyone—regardless of size, speed or experience.

After several years abroad, and training under everyone from the violent Arabian assassins in Egypt to the last remaining Samurai in Japan, Captain Chris ran into an old, grizzled WW2 vet in Britain and discovered what he was searching for:

    "Close Combat Training"

Close Combat Training (CCT) was once used to kill nazis and elite Japanese soldiers during WW2, north Korean communists during the Korean War and to do the CIA's "dirty work" in Vietnam.

However, due to its violating hundreds of international "brutality" agreements, Washington politicians ordered the military to stop teaching it to their soldiers after Vietnam.

After 30 years and almost being forgotten altogether, Captain Chris brought this "lost" self defense system to his New York training school.

When word got out that someone in America was actually teaching CCT again, Captain Chris's small self defense business exploded with new students from every corner of the world—including military soldiers from the Marines, Army Rangers, Navy SEALS, British SAS, DEA Agents, Inner city cops, professional bounty hunters and even trained Private Military Assassins.

To keep up with the demand, Captain Chris was forced to charge these students as much as $14,987.00 per lesson to learn this devastating new fighting system.

And then, after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, Chris was approached by a new kind of student: Civilians.

Only problem was, outside of the private, "big money" security firms and mercenary outfits backed by goverments and special interests, nobody else could afford Captain Chris's $14,987.00 fee.

To remedy this situation, Captain Chris created a special DVD set that walks people through the entire CCT system, step-by-step.

Since then, over 30,000 people—from every walk of life—have learned and used CCT to protect themselves and their families.

It's methods have been endorsed by national TV shows like The Today Show, and Eye Witness News as well as other world-class martial arts instructors such as Rob Colasanti—President of The National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA)—and Rhadi Fergeson—2004 Olympian and world famous mixed martial arts coach.

Until recently, Captain Chris's CCT System DVD's sold for as much as $2,000. But for a limited time, he is letting serious people watch and use these DVD's free for 30 days.

This means you can try the enire CCT System without any risk in the privacy of your own home. If after that 30 days you want to keep the CCT System, you will get to buy it at a small fraction of the normal price—just $197.

Captain Chris is not offering this special, limited time deal because he's a "nice guy." He simply knows—from his high level government and military sources—the United States (and most Western countries) are going to morph into something that won't be easily recognized in the next few years.

Captain Chris knows that with the explosion of criminal illegal alien gangs allowed to freely roam big cities like LA, Chicago and New York... international terrorists basically invited in by the liberal socialists in Washington... and far left wing politicians in Congress passing laws that empower dangerous criminals and castrate civilians... knowing how to hurt, cripple and even kill someone trying to attack your family is no longer a luxury—it's crucial.

To try Captain Chris's Close Combat Training System FREE for 30 days (all you pay is a small shipping and handling fee)
    I've totally signed up.
