Has anyone here performed this on their hornet and if so is the result still warrantable?

These aren't the bikes we're looking for....
i bought some cheap debaffeled vtr1000 cans on tard me, they will be fitted to my bike on tuesday but im keeping the origional cagiva ones for wof time...
Not if the tester doesn't like it.
It could pay to contemplate this a while before actually doing it. I saw at least one report where the owner complained that the bike wouldn't run properly because of a lack of back pressure and he had to start welding washers into the pipe in an effort to fix the problem...

Thanks for the feedback, guess I really need a set of cheap donor factory pipes to play with. I just want a bit more snarl than the whistling it does now. This procedure seems pretty common in the US, and the soundtracks I have heard sound really good but must be borderline warrantable at best. Was curious if anyone had done it and had the decibels measured.
If anyone has a set of factory cans sitting around please let me know.
Cheers.

Defintely the cheapest and best way to getting more out of a stock cb900... Many of the $1000+ cans are too loud and don't sound that good anyway, so go for it!
Pm'd you about stock cans..
yes .. done it on mine .. WOF is no problem .. looks dead standard
and doesn't increase noise that much, but changes to a throaty tone
Ah ha, thanks guys, that's just the feedback I wanted. Much appreciated. Yanosh - will pm you.
Cheers.

I did it to mine and it was the best thing i ever did for my 900 Hornet. I have a poc if you are in or near Auckland. Cheap as chips and i even had a guy admit to me that my stock debaffled cans sounded better than his micron ones in his Hornet.....that must have hurt!

I've done a sneaky semi on mine.
I bored out the rear but left a flange. Removed the stock 25mm outlet - this takes a while and a lot of wiggling to break the internal factory spot weld.
I made up a couple of 35mm outlet inserts and, well inserted them in the end!
The first set of inserts I made were straight through and at the time I thought loud - they were not really it's just that the stock pipes were so dam quiet it was a big difference. So I made a final set of curved ones that knocked a few db off it. I've probably prefer that extra few db now but I glued them in with a high temp industrial glue and the curved ones won't come out! Thats some good glue
I've only had to get one WOF on the bike - it was with these modded pipes - the inspector had just failed a Harley and told me he fails anything without stock pipes or pipe certification. Quote "yours are fine mate"
I'm in Christchurch - PM me and we can catch up sometime if you want a look, listen.
I've a plan for a set of project mufflers for the Hornet - I've a
metal working company rolling up a pair of cones for me ........I'm making something a wee bit different than the standard slip on cans.
Here's a picture of the cans mate - let me know how you get on!
Hi Allan, I have now done the end cap 7 baffle removal now and you are right, compared to stock it is now pretty loud. It is suprising how much more consious you are of your riding style when you actually can hear what is going on.
It would be good to meet up some time - do you go to the WNR's / Maintenance evenings?
