    That sweet young girl is one aggressive racer! 10th at the first corner. 1st by the second lap. On the grass over the hill 3rd lap or so, keeps the gas nailed and retains the lead, seemed to pull a gap and then nailed the wall the next lap!

    I was gutted to hear it over the pa...best of luck for a speedy recovery girl

    She is indeed something special mate.

    And as I've been saying all weekend, it's not impressive because she's a woman, it's impressive because she's fucken unbelievably fast!

    Yeah sad news that was, but she will no doubt bounce back I hope, her Dad said she had a rod put into leg yesterday but was txting well, so here's wishing speedy recovery. Kid's bones usually heal fast. Apparently was so close to lap record.

    btw check out her new website;

    So devastated to hear the news about Avalons crash as she is 1 very talented rider who is admired by so many of us who stand behind the fence spectating and also to those who are out there doing what they all love and that being racing to their potential.
    My thoughts are with you and your family Avalon and here's hoping you will be back out there real soon once you have fully recovered from your injuries.
    Takecare Chick and get well soon ok?.

    Here is her Dad's race report.

    Hi, Avalon wont be getting to a keyboard at home for a couple of days so here is an update on her behalf.

    Pukekohe Park Raceway, Auckland, NZ Championship Round 5 (Final Round) 6th to 8th March

    Avalon crashed while leading race one Saturday and unfortunately made contact with the wall going over the hill onto the front straight. She had an operation on Sunday morning to have a rod inserted into her left femur which is a normal sort of op for that kind of break. She has had plenty of xrays and scans and no other injuries found. Av came through the op very well and is looking good.

    Avalon had qualified on pole position, the only 125 rider to lap under 1.05 seconds in qualifying.
    In the race the bike nearly stalled on the start line and although she kept it going was in last place at turn one. She was running 4th a lap later and took the lead a lap after that. Apparently a video shows the back wheel slide out before the accident which didn't involve anyone else. She did a lap time of 1.04.7 before crashing. The 125GP lap record was set at 1.04.5 some years ago by Midge Smart who currently races 600cc internationally from his home in the UK so a pity to come so close and have the weekend finish earlier than planned.

    I asked her to consider retiring from racing but she had a short answer for me so looks like we will have our hands out for support from sponsors again for next years nationals and other racing later this year! The 125GP field looks set to be strongly competitive again next year. Any help with attaining sponsorship support would be greatly appreciated. The ambulance staff cut the leg off her new custom made leathers so that's an expensive start to the off season!
    My apologies for those who missed the television interview, I had been told it was the Good Morning Show TVNZ and it turned out to be TV3.

    I saw this and was totally impressed!! He went round the track pretty good I thought - obviously no Valentino but he wasn't a total slouch either

    TV3 are now a bit cooler in my books
