2007 CBR600RR Yoshimura RS-5

Hi,

I know this has been covered before but i cant find anything on my special case...

I have just ordered a Yoshimura RS-5 Slip on for my 2007 cbr600rr.

The ad says it "Eliminates CAT and Exup Valve" and "Slip-On Systems replace not only the stock muffler, but the midpipe as well. These systems slide easily onto the collector of your stock header"

Is this going to be a problem without putting some sort of aftermarket computer on my bike? Because its not just replacing the muffler is it.. its removing the CAT and the exup valve.

Im sure someone out there has this system so can let me know what they did. Also how it sounds :P

I'm looking at getting an RS-5 myself.

My understanding is that the exhaust valve isn't replaced with the slip-on - only the full system.

But yes the cat in the exhaust should go.

From what I've heard you'll get minimal power gains unless you get an PCIII but even then we're talking 5hp max. You'll notice the reduction in weight more than the additional horsepower.

Hey there.

I've just been through the same mod recently on my 06 1000rr.

Assuming that they are the same system,there's a cat further down from the mid pipe join,so it wouldn't be taking out the cat.

As for the exup valve,my bike came with that already removed,then i put on an aftermarket can at the end of last year and it's been sweet as.

I have got a USBIII power commander installed,but no custom map as of yet.
At first i just ran it with the factory map,and that was no problem at all.

It may not be a real concern, but be aware that with the current WOF regs, a clued-up tester could fail you for removing the cat.
As for the fueling, Hondas (and other Jap bikes??) are usually tuned a bit rich in the factory to avoid problems from enterprising folx such as yourself doing exactly what you've done and/or fitting aftermarket air filters.

From memory there's two cats in the 600rr exhaust.

One down below the right peg that doesn't get removed and one in the back of the exhaust itself that does get removed.
