    No wheels

Watched the Offshore Powerboats this afternoon in Wgtn Habour. Bloody awesome, extreme action.

The conditions were bad and some boats, in particular the ski boats, were getting massive air. Great to see 2 older boats that some may recognise out there and doing well - Chindit and Jessie James. Can't beat the fantastic sound of Jessie James. Up close the boat is a work of art - a hot rod for the water.

Yet again confirms that Wellington is the progressive city when it comes to entertainment! Let's hope that the street race returns.

    Cheers
Someday we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

saw them on the news tonight hope to catch them when it is shown on Sundays motor sport. Had a grandstand view a couple of years back when they raced on Lake Rotoma, right outside our front door.

See the reinforced steering link on one of the boat got bent?
Man, to bend a link like that takes some force eh?- the thing was about as thick as a m/c front strut - but with reinforcing!!

    Arrow Great.

Had a run in one while I was working as a deckhand. Scared the crap outta me. Great fun to watch though.

Stupid streetrace supporters site. I signed the petition, now I get a constant flood of emails from other people asking for them to be taken off the mailing list

Jesse James? West Coast Coppers Jesse James?

Hmmm that would have been interesting. Wonder if his boat was one of monster garage creation.

Good one Deb. While you were writing this post us old guys were naturally at the Neil Diamond concert - bloody brilliant!! I've just got home because we stayed the night at the Intercontinental.

You are right about Wellington doing stuff as this morning some top level women's bike race was on in the city and no one seemed to be griping about closed roads in the centre of town. Our hotel carpark exits on Grey St so we had no hassle getting home but Featherston Street was closed plus many other central streets between Boulcott Street and Parliament - more than is planned to be closed for the car race so I can't see any hassle for the car race at all.
    Cheers
