In this instance we are talking mongrel mob mate, the coughing mother gave that away, even if her son did not. No lines that I am calling here. This is about a mother that coughs a gang call in court supporting her son while he is facing a murder charge...

Don't get me wrong, I'd support banning the MM altogether and many see a patch of any sort and think 'gang' but it's not that simple. Some M/C's are 'gangs' and others are not. How about the Nelson Classic and Vintage M/c, so far removed from gang culture it's not funny but still an M/C.

By all means, ban the MM patch, the whole group, ban patches, it makes odds to me, I don't wear one. I doubt it'll change anything though. At least when you see a MM patch you KNOW trouble's coming, without it I think they'd be even more of a worry; you won't see them coming.

There are a couple of things the G'mint, regardless of its colour like to do.

The first is, when government notices that the general population are (correctly) forming the opinion that the government is a self-serving collection of snouts, rorting a public feeding trough, it will defend itself with confusion.

Instead of dealing with the problem, it will cheerfully distract us with promises of a new way of voting, or counting the votes, or distrbuting them after they are counted.

This distraction works very well, normally giving government 20 years of "snouting at will" before it has to be addressed again.

"GANGS" and "DRUGS" is from the same school of distraction.

The problem is actually criminal behaviour, and the governments inability to deal with the lowest groups in society.

You can't fine a poor man as he has no money, or only money you gave him or he stole. You can't give him community service as he just won't show up, he will wait for a new fine instead. Eventually, at great cost and limited value you have to lock him up.

Avoiding this difficult and expensive option involves lots of blather and distraction. And as criminal people need to interact with other criminal people, frequently they will form recognisable groups.

So we don't need to deal with the criiminal anymore. We can divert attention to the "gang" and their "drugs".

Nice post, there is a lot of truth in what you say.

I'm not sure that blaming any government is helpful though. Governments simply represent the people and are unweildy organisations. The only way gangs are going to diminish is because young people no longer want to join them. That comes down to having family structures where they feel safe and are taught right from wrong.

Firstly they only represent the people at election time when they are sucking up to you for your vote. The rest of the time they RULE the people.

Unweildy is a gross underestimate of the problem.

I have passed by a gas station before and went to the next one cos a patched member was getting gas, glad to know he's there so I can avoid him. Otherwise might've made eye contact and got c*nted cos thats all it takes with those animals.
