Thumbs up Love my new Shoei

I have just bought a new shoei xr1000 with the crest graphics. What a brilliant helmet, comfy and quiet to. Definatley worth the extra buck, they are no comparison to the cheaper brand helmets and the graphic are mean Should have got one ages ago!

My last helmet was a Shoei. Current one is an Arai. Next one will be an Arai. (weird head y'know....)

Great helmet! Personally I saved myself $200 by going for a plain black one - that is absolutely great value. On the flip side, the plain colors are more vulnerable to the odd mark or scratch.

I'll have to recommend the pin-lock visor and the whisper kit too. Nothing beats never having to worry about your visor fogging up. The xr1000 being a fairly light helmet with good ventilation is a bit prone to wind noise and the whisper kit really makes a difference in that regard - it does however make the helmet a bit more annoying to get on and off.

Having "used" two xr1000s already I can also vouch that they do the job they are supposed to very well. My skull is still in one piece and only minor concussions resulted from both of my rather hard impacts.

I scored a stunner this week,so I,m looking for a replacement for my bmw 4 open face, they are crap, heavy and fall apart and noisey......anyhoo.....so I ,ve heard about the shoei multitech open face and people really rate it so I call rolling thunder in christchurch-they are the importers so I hear...well 850 for a black or white one and 900 for a painted one(I wanted light silver to match the bike)...900 buck,s.....christ I nearly shit a kidney.

Well I resigned myself to sticking with the beamer for a little longer but thought I,d look up shoei on good old tard me......blow me there,s a silver one only used 10 times, still got the box and visor still locked in plastic.....500 hundred buck,s....went round tried it on and bought it there and then. The old fella who was selling it thought he would return to biking after retiring but could,nt handle the killer traffic here in chch.....sold swapped the bike for a car and I got myself a top deal.....done!.

Nice looking hat! I have just got my second XR1000. I recently binned the first XR1000 I owned. They do work well in a crash ! I hope you never find that out though ! I have found them very comfortable to wear, and pretty quiet, as you say. There are lots of excellent helmets around ..... it's just finding what suits you, and it sounds like you have !
