I always wondered how those things land, considering the side wheels come off at takeoff. Maybe the americans didn't expect most of them to come back

They're about the hardest thing to land nicely, are they not?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

    Far Freakin Out

    Thats some wicked ground loops

I'd lose my licence if I landed like that

I guess I've only got a half tonne aircraft with an 18m wingspan, but still...

Why were the outrigger wheels not down?

And in one shot you can see the outrigger fall off.

Like trying to land a uni-cycle

They are designed to fall off during the take off. They land with just the centre wheels.

The designers were on the piss one night, stressed to the max because they couldn't work out how to save several hundy more pounds of weight in the design.

As a joke one of them said why not have the wheels fall off after take off like one of them german rocket thingies. Fuck the SAMs will get them anyway hahaha ...

And a new good idea was born!
