    Controlling costs

Seeming as the trend in recent posts has been towards controlling costs in NZ road racing what do members think of these pukee pics of Sam Smiths bike?

Its a remote adjustable Ohlins shock.

There are two buttons mounted on the left handle bar that Sam was able to use to increase or decrease both Compression and Rebound damping on the shock.

Not that bothered to be honest.
The older i get the faster i used to be.......

Looks quite cool to me, adjust by feel without having to come in when setting up, if anything would be cost effective

I Know that Robert was talking about this, and the pictures look exactly like I was expecting. Hope it all worked as hoped

Sam went really well at Puke, I wonder how much the shock had to do with that ? what do we all think ?

    Wow that's very, very cool!!!

If all bikes had that people would be much more inclined to experiment with different settings - for better and worse, hopefully proceeding with a bit of caution - but it would be a very cool, practical learning tool

It'll always be the same....................those that can WILL!

If I could I would....................I'm a sucker for techie shit like that, in reality I have enough trouble remembering what to do out on track without playin with buttons hahaa.

I can see that system being hooked into the already selectable maps that some bikes have, push a button for certain parts of a lap.......give it time and it'll be automatically done with a gps tracker if it hasn't already.
Theres alway something better just around the corner.........thats evolution.

That shock was a load of crap something that has been in the pipe line for a while just to get all the whingers wound up and it has worked a treat.
The wires went under the tail unit and pluged into fresh air pie there was a small hole in the terminals on the shock so an alen key could fit to adjust the shock as per yours and mine, as for the switches on the bar the also went to the same fresh air pie and done sweet FA. The purpose was to get chins flapping and to take this piss out of all the cry babbies at the track that think so and so wins because they have this that and the other thing that jo blogs cant get, case and point proved I would say Sam is actually REALLY REALLY good. HAHA

Should change his name to GayCBRracer or Hondasrule or maybe GSXRracersAREsheep.

Seriously though, well done this season Craig. I know it was a tough one. Bit more development on that bike and you'll be right at the front again where ya belong.

Craig Craig Craig, as diplomatic and PC as ever! When I have my right wing coup you can be ''Minister of War'', never ''Minister of Foreign Affairs.
I stress to add that all those that have posted prior to this e-mail are all good people ( even the dwarf that posted ) and are not of a negative ''I cant have it so neither can you'' demeanour.
To all those that bought into the deception I sincerely apologise as we had to have a blanket deception for the intended purpose to work and work it sure as hell did! The target was to see just how tetchy a competing team(s) would get. It worked so well that we had questions from an MNZ representative on Sunday morning. Had it been hooked up it would have been legal as no telemetry was involved.
That Sam was able to come back from a serious crash in qualifying, that everyone pulled together and rebuilt the bike overnight and that Sam won the first race ( and very nearly the second ) was a fairytale. Especially as Sam has slowly but surely regained his confidence.
And yes I agree with ''GayCBRracer'' SAM IS VERY GOOD. Not only as a racer but also as one of the most polite guys you could ever meet, for that he has my 110% ongoing support and I know I can also answer for Davy Cole, the best Yamaha engine builder in the country.
We also coincidentally had a new piston design inside the front forks, testing for Ohlins. The bike worked better entirely because of that, not because of the rear end.
