Anyone got any idea why the (cheap) L300s don't meet their operational needs any more??

    That got me thinking too.
It can hardly be because they're so well known as 'risk' vehicles to anyone speeding, because they have a giant amber ass tumour out the back.

    No idea.

Will the speed cameras be placed inside the car now?
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

In the UK the sneaky bastards hide them in horse boxes and caravans. At least the NZ highways aren't bristling with Gatso cameras yet (just gravel skid pans).

    Too conspicuous now?
Most people know to watch for them?
Less of them on the roads compared to whanau movers?

After all the bollocks about needing a desk in the back for the taxation agent to sit and "do paperwork" (read pron?), how are they going to get a desk in a previa?

I think this is most likely the answer... the Missingbitsys stand out like dogs balls

although the police will never admit that....

I would have thought they would be diversifying rather than going for all one type.

Surely they can pick up some ex-tourist Hiaces/Bongos/Econovans for a couple of grand and get them overhauled. I'm sure that for $10k you could make an old van run really good and have it all retrofitted with a comfortable interior.

I don't think you'll find many people in NZ that care what a speed camera van looks like, but no doubt there will be people asking why it has to cost $62k to purchase and fit out new vehicles.

They pay for themselves many times over.
