    Looking at buying gear.

Being a new rider and all, I need some gear.

I already have a helmet and gloves.

But this saterday I wanna go get the whole sha-bam.

Was looking at jacket, pants, boots and some new gloves. Since the ones i currently have are not waterproof and coming upto rainy season i dont want to get soaked.

So what do you think would be best suited?

I have a budget of roughly $1000, But my perants are contemplating buying boots for me. As a present and all.

Hit me with you wealth of knowledge kiwi bikers.

If you can get it all at the same place you can often get a reasonable discount.
$1000 will get you decent gear no trouble.

    $400 jacket
    $250 pants
    $150 gloves
    $200 boots.
That will get you decent quality stuff.
Perhaps a tiny bit more on the boots, but up to you.

I take it your looking for gortex... Tecknic have a really good range at a competitive price and also looks good to, Ixon also have some nice stuff all depends what you like the look of.

I hope your helmet is a good one thou if anything you want to have a good helmet first, you only have 1 head.

    Gear

Hey if you want a ride then go to Cycletreads at Takapuna as they will kit you out at a very good price, there is also Motomail, they do there own brands and label brands as well.

Try on as much gear as you can as sizes are not always as labelled.

I thought Sir Rocks helmet looked different when I saw him a few weeks back.

Strada and Technic are good gear for good price. I have strada kit and never get wet, even in massive downpours and having a sports jacket. Good stuff.

The wife has a DriRider jacket and it leaks like a sive (sp?). New so they're replaced it. I know someone else that has the same problems with there new dririder gear. Go figure with the name and all

If you've got good quality lace work boots, I wouldn't be in a rush to get boots. But if your folks are buying...would be rude not to really.

Hope to see you out on our local rides soon...and don't go riding that bike like your previous owner

The only thing I have close to that is my ruged sharks. And i need new ones of those too .

Plus id rather something that covers my ankles in the most infortunate event that I bail.

Go with your bike and sit on it or go for a ride around the block to see/feel how the gear sits -especially the pants
