If you have a compressor and a rattle gun you dont need the holder. Leave the plates in and then ralle the nut off while putting pressure on the clutch pack. If you don't have a compressor then.... well.... get one!

How to build a free clutch holder tool
doing a bit of Google searching and just found a wonderful idea for a cheap clutch hub holder.
I will however advise every one to get some one else to do this always. I have tried to do remove the clutch hub bolt with another "not recommended" method. the spanner in the hub. this snapped the bolts and now i need a new hub
simply take both steel plates and friction plates that are old and no longer needed. through some means bind these together so they cant move and it effectively locks the hub in place.
The method commonly used is to drill through a few plates, in two or more places. then bolt these plates together. I have heard of welded versions, but never seen this?? either way make sure the teeth match so they will fit into the splines correctly.
*the more plates used the less the point force placed on the basket fingers and the hub splines.
* push the plates to the bottom of the clutch hub (furthest away from you) this puts less pressure on the basket fingers. you dont ever want to break these, baskets +- $600 for new ones
the attached picture shows one created. note the user has placed a set of steel hooks to allow easy removal of the holder tool once done. i simply tied string around mine to pull it out.
Bugger, had i seen this you could've borrowed my one, is one of these
