    Too easy mate, good idea!

Aaaaaargh! It's that kinda fuck-knuckle who ruins it for everyone.

Maybe get the local Palmy radio station to come along with the BBQ and crap as they do at community events and do broadcasts there all day etc.
The best ideas are always the simple ones. So simple and so effective. Imagine the team LG bikes set up in a mall somewhere, with the big screen TV going as they did. You'd need to hire crowd control.

Even without that a couple of affable young riders handing out flyers standing next to their bikes and answering queries on a Saturday morning prior would go down a treat.

Yep, it's chalk and cheese eh? Some of the rigs that have shown up at Manfeild test days are incredible: $200k full carbon fibre space framed chrome moly sports sedans complete with trailers that have self contained accomodation and workshops, being towed by $100k Dodge Ram dually's. Jaw dropping stuff. There's absolutely no reason we can't have the same soert of money floating around our sport.

I wouldn't mind contributing a bit extra but I can see why others would balk at it, we've all got our limits.

C'mon mate, Ginger Molloy is still goin' at '73 and we're fast catchin' up.....well you are, thankfully I'm a bit slower than you. We'll be racin' the 'blades in Post Classic before you know it.

Can't say I've got too many ideas myself, but just a word of advice to all you guns going up to accept your trophy's: when you do your lil' acceptance speech "....and lastly thanks to my sponsors." is not good enough! Names and recognition are important so let everyone know exactly who helped you out. Even at the Manfeild Nationals meet I couldn't believe how little recognition was given to individual sponsors. It's not that hard.

    Thats a crock of shit , fuck , i said that out loud didnt i ? )
Your age does not matter , if you set a good system in place or have something to do with that , then your age is not relevant.
I started racing in 1982 and as such have had a shit load of fun and gained a huge amount of knowlege during my passtime , ( its not a career) . Two years ago i decided i wanted to retire from racing but didnt want to quit the sport entirely and so i started the team i have under me today. The gist of this is ..... I have never in my entire time of racing given more of a shit about the future of the sport until now when i see young riders struggling to get into it. I want to be open about the fact i will see through anything i start and if i can get onboard with a bunch of similar old pricks to ensure the sport i love continues then thats what i will do . We all need to actually look at what we want out of racing these bike things at silly speed as we do. We cant always get someone else to pay for it but its nice when that happens .
It is pleasing to see the amount of people that have ideas about racings future because we used to just do as we were told by the ACU and now we have a generation of free thinkers that do give a shit and have more say
( a bit anyway) in the way its operated.
Its scary to find i agree with people half my age because they see it as i now do but they have never seen it as it was. Insight is a wonderful thing.

The way i see it you dont have to be actually racing to be part of the change needed. Look at Moto Acadamy , Steve gives a damm but he is no longer riding why is that ?but helping others enter the sport he obviously sees a future in.
I really cant see the likes of Eddie and others walking away and leaving the sport now comletely now your hooked anyway.

    Paul.

    MEDIA RELEASE

    EVENT 1

    Date: 13 MARCH 2009
    Embargo: none

    EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR KIWI MOTORSPORT

There are good times on the horizon for kiwi motorsport fans with the announcement that TV3 and Event 1 - the company responsible for promoting the exciting ENZED V8 Utes Series - will produce a five round motorsport series beginning in July. The series will include classes like the NZV8 Utes, Porsche, Production Class, Muscle Cars and Pre-65 Saloons.

In addition to the series TV3 will be screening the NZV8 Utes Series, the Fujitsu V8 Series, the Australian V8 Ute Series and V8 Extra in addition to their regular V8 Supercar coverage throughout the year.

For the New Zealand motorsport enthusiast the announcement essentially means that they can now enjoy a host of good quality motorsport all year round. The five round series will take place during a time on the calendar that other categories are not racing while the television coverage will provide great profile for the classes and teams involved.

"Event 1 and TV3 Motorsport is a joint venture designed to bring “live” motorsport entertainment into kiwi homes," says Jamie Kett of Event 1. " The focus is about providing visually exciting categories that relate to all and provide good fields and race formats that encourage close racing. There is no elite category. All classes will have equal billing and opportunities to put their product on the screen and generate commercial partnerships that will sustain ongoing development. Sustainability is the key for us. Event 1 does not compete with the traditional Motorsport New Zealand show. Our season runs outside of theirs and will in fact will grow interest in motorsport across all mediums and audiences. We are looking at the big picture. Categories will include classes like Historic Muscle Cars, Modern Muscle Cars, NZV8 Utes, Pre-65, Porsche, F5000, V8’s of all shapes and sizes, Formula Libre and essentially whoever can meet the numbers and entertainment criteria. We have had early negotiations with three manufacturers who wish to support the series as well as an endurance event at Hampton Downs," says Kett.

Preparations are underway for the new series which is due to kick off late in July.
