    2004 GSXR1000 Mudguard/Tail Unit Removal

    Hey Guys,

Well I have bought an integrated tail light with indicators for my GSXR. My question is how do you remove the big ugly unit that has your rear indicators and plate mounted to it?

Maybe im thick as pigshit, but I can seem to work out how to do it. I have removed the pillion seat cover but still no luck...

    Thanks

    Rory

4 bolts is all that holds it on, they are undertail look behind the spade(unit that numberplate mounts) its they are there.

all you need to mount the number plate is 2 x L brackets, after that

Do I just cut the wires to the rear indicators and license plate lamp? Or is there a better way of doing it? Thanks

yeah cut the wires to indicators and put a new plug on to suit the new tail light, and just unplug the licence plate lamp, it be under the seat.

I would have thought the new unit would come with the correct wiring plugs so you do not have to butcher the stock wiring - are there blocks on the wires or just 'wires'?

You can purchase wiring kits that plug into your stock turnsignals - easy as plug and play - I did this on my Hornet for the turnsignals, that way you can throw the stock ones back on for selling without pissing around with wires again.

    Got them here (USA) http://www.flyncycle.net/Connector_Leads_s/90.htm
