    Weavers Hillclimb

    What a weekend.
After watching the racing last year I thought I’d have a go in streetstock on my CBR250RR. I set myself the goal of going under three minutes and keeping up with the 150’s, all of which had very good riders on them.

On my first run on Saturday I set a time of 2:51. I was ecstatic. Second run was the same and I was feeling good. I had already reached my first goal. Now I wanted to go sub 2:50. The following run I do a 2:49 and I’m starting to get a good feel of the road, also Koba and Clivoris aren’t far ahead. I decide to set myself the unrealistic goal of catching them. Last run of the day and I manage to do a 2:47.

That evening I was worried I wouldn’t be able to match the 2:47 on the Sunday.

First run of Sunday morning and I do a 2:44. HOLY SHIT, I wasn’t expecting that! By now I was thinking I can’t improve on that, I was doing most of the corners with the throttle pinned. Just as I start catching the 400s they start to pull away again. Damn it.

Second run I start backing off less for the corners before the bridge and do a 2:43. The next two runs are 2:44s and I’m scratching my head as to where I can get some more time from. I decide it’s going to be around the bridge. The only way to do that was to harden the fuck up and keep the throttle wide open on the right before the bridge, the left following it up the hill, the right and the next right.

So the last run I do as planned and it felt awesome. I get 2:43 again.

A huge thanks to the organisers and marshals. Thanks also to my mates for the encouragement, you all know who you are.
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.
