South Island move on the cards. Need advice.

Looks like tri boy has been given the oppotunity to head south to take up a role in the southern branch of my employer. (the boss is dead keen to get me to CH CH, but I have some reservations).

Kanny says she will be supporting my choice either way. Bless

And the best option might be to do a 2-3mth trial to see if it works out.
(our Hamilton branch looks shaky, and the boss is consolidating)

So I would like to hear any pros n cons etc. Especially from pig islanders that have been assimilated into the fold that is the mainland. peasea etc.

Best angle I see, is new adv roads and rallies.
The hardest thing for me to deal with is the bitter cold.

    Yours please.

I survived for nine years in Chch before the cold drove me back north - and that was in student housing too which was primitive by today's standards...holes in walls, floors, etc, no heating except fireplaces, no insulation, no electric hot water in one house - fire only for hot water....
The north easterly in summer used to piss me off bigtime though...

3 tracks....Ruapuna,Levels, Teretonga. The people are not as pretentious as the ones to the North of the Mainland. We also dont really suffer from "shrinking willy syndrome " as our are so large that when they do shrink its still larger than the average Northy
Do it tri boy,its adv heaven & you woulda got a fair idea when you were down this way on your scrambler

Teretonga, Levels, Ruapuna, see, I'm not totally out of touch. The people seem to be genuine, if not a bit guarded towards Aucklanders, but I'm not one of those, so I should be ok.
Doh, puddy beat me. I'm 60 40 in favour of the move.

Rephrase that, it's not "bitter" cold, it's more a "dry" cold!

Cold is a relative term really you adjust to the temperature range of the area that you live in.

I drifted South in the early 1960's, when every one else was drifting North.

Southern women have great pulling power!

Once you have tasted the Southern life, you will be able to check out but you will never be able to leave! Cheers, John.
