    Red mist !

Yesterday, I'd been out with a mate of mine, giving him a lift in the car to go and look at a couple of 4x4's to buy... long story short, he bought one, and followed me back to my place in Ellerslie....

After we'd buggered around with it for a bit, he wanted to go and park it in a garage space in town I was lending him (a secure access thing, with swipe card..) so, I said i'd lead on the bike (he didn't know his way back to CBD, he's only been in Auckland a month) and show him where to go etc...

Anyway.. I'm consciously going slowly making sure he can see me, and where I'm headed at all times, so, not hooning in any way shape or form... I'm headed up Great South Road in Greenlane, towards the motorway on ramp...

At this point, it becomes a 4 lane road, with 2 of the lanes filtering off to the right, and the other 2 going straight on... So, he's me, in lane 3 (the 1st of the two bearing off to the right), going a steady, probably 20 - 30k (theres flowing traffic), I look to my left, and there is an asian guy in a honda, slowly drifting in to my lane....

My first reaction, a quick blat of the horn...... The chap looks out of his window, straight at me, and then back at the road, and he carries on as if he'd just seen a clear space...

soo... another toot.... longer this time, again, a look, this time, I catch eye contact, so I KNOW he's seen me, but STILL no avoiding action...

By this time I was WAY over in the right hand side of the lane, mostly through sheer amazement...

My next action was to swing my left leg towards his car, whilst looking him in the eye with a "I'm going to kill you" look... Finally, I'd found something which made him swerve away..... he went back in to the 2nd lane...

He then went straight on at the lights, instead of turning right towards the on ramp.... It was all I could do to stop myself riding after him, and telling him exactly what I thought...

What is it ?, is my life not worth as much as his ?, or is he just an isolated arsehole ?

Yeah, had that one more than a couple of times! Some people just dont give a shit. Thats when people are most likely to need some panelbeating after I've had a go at their doors with my boots.

So, you don't think I'd have been out of order giving his door a good shit kicking...

It's probably a good thing he drove straight on.. cause I was fuming at the sheer ignorange of the arsehole.... I do worry slightly about loosing my temper in a situation like that !!!, I probably just need to learn to chill and take it in my stride... but it's damn hard when there are morons like that around !

    Not in my book.

I have had the temptation to do the same due to very similar circumstances a couple of times.

    Hate the bastards like that.

It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

asians were representing yesterday then... merc on the NW heading into town in the fast lane... slowly passing it in the middle lane (dawdlers in the fast lane are a whole 'nother story)...

He starts to drift into my lane a little... toot the horn, he moves back. As I pass his front quarter panel, he's drifting again, on the hoon, and look at him... he sorta goes back.

In my mirrors I could see him drifting now and then all over his lane... *sigh* to be able to *555 someone while on the bike... might have to hook it up.

Remember the number.. report them with the online form when you get where you're going.

If you've got a sec at the next set of lights.. just pop the number plate into your phone.

Great idea. The kicked in door works well too. Have been pillion when someone has done that with pretty good effect. Really need to be wearing steelcaps tho.

Must admit, I have succumbed to the Red mist on a few occasions, and followed to have... a colourful conversation. Had one guy tell me he was gonna smack me. Then I stood up off the bike, and he changed his tune.

Thank you... a timely reminder. I needed to look that up for another incident on Sunday. Red lights outside St Kents College, male goes right through it at 60-70kph ish, just after kids with parents (all on bicycles) had crossed... if another kid had run out and been hidden by the stopped cars....

Got to my destination, and ended up feeling even more pissed off and sick to the stomach thinking what could have happened... noted all the details into my phone.

There was a time not so long ago when a quick toot of the horn could be successfully used to alert a wayward driver that you were already in the space s/he was attempting to occupy and would always result in them quickly darting back into their rightful place on the road and an apologetic wave. Alas, nowadays they seem to just ignore it and only a sz12 steelcap in the driver's door or a wing mirror hanging only from it's cables seems to make these arsewipes yield, in shock. Otherwise they just keep on moving over.

Oh well, if that's what it takes, I'm only too happy to oblige!
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
