So, are you coming fishing, or what?

Hell's teeth. I watched the Ozzie F18 doing a few stunts today, prior to the air-show tomorrow.

What a job! What a buzz!

At one point this dude came in over the airfield at about 700Knts, flipped into AB, went straight up for maybe 2,000 ft, flipped off the ABs, flipped left and panned.

Bugger me! At the speed he was panning, even my glider would have stalled.

How the fuck he didn't get a flame-out, or at least go completely insipient, is beyond me. But he didn't. The aircraft seemed to hang in the air, then he gunned it up and way.

It was some demo of flying skills.

There's also a thing which looks like an Antanov, but isn't. Turns out the pilot of this great big bird can do tricks even seagulls avoid. A mate of mine, who is doing his thing in a glider, for the show, emailed the group flying this thing and said, More or less, 'That pilot of yours is something else, Man 'he's' a pistol.' Only to learn the pilot is some stunningly beautiful, 29 year-old female!

The show starts at 9am. I was going fishing but my addiction to watching man-made flying things fly like they shouldn't has overcome my addiction to fishing.

I can always go in the afternoon. :--))

Pokaiwhenua....there's a name from 'way back'!
Haven't fished it since early 90s - was one of my favorite spots, even tho' I didn't get to it as often as i liked.

Part of the reason why we're in Rotorua - mint fishing (I prefer streams) within 5mins drive from home!
