yes, a good day had by all (until the bin that is)
us aucklanderz got underway from westgate without to much fuss in the morning. After a short winter blast down Old North Road and me feeling much more confident in my newly scrubbed in tire CK lead the pack down HW 16 all the way to wellsford where we stopped to get some muchly needed fuel and a break. We set off from wellsford at about 1030 - read johns post if ur really interested in our short jaunt up the main highway.
once we has passed paparoa aff and me took off together to stretch our legs, we where joined shortly by CK and roo (dude on the r6) which led to some quick riding thru to oakleigh where we stopped to let the others catch up, after waiting for a while we where joined by mono (new zx6r) who told us of the bin(AD's story to tell), after a short discussion it was decided that we would head on to maungatapere(sp?) and await the others there. We spent the better part of and hour sitting around waiting for them to turn up when we were joined by justsomeguy. so we had another discussion in favor of returning to auckland via mangawhai heads and just as we where setting off Ant, Jess and John turned up (have no idea where the other 5 or so people dissappeared to) so another great ride back to auckland in which the only thing of mention was when CK's right? mirror decided the road was a better place lie, it's theory was quickly disproven with the rear tire of the r6. I had an excellent day.

a big ups to John and Ant who organised the whole thing and made is possible.
and john, dude! that is one tidy tidy zxr you got there, great wee bikes can keep up with some of the bigger toys.

We all managed to get to the well in wellsford and have a wee chat and getbut we managed to get him out, and then we couldnt find any rescue but thankfully the young fellow (sorry forgot your name!!) on a CBRR250 saved us by getting a truck in and picking the rider and his bike up, I told him he had to join the forum and he will be around anytime, hes a legend!.

Guests name was Gavin, he'd stopped at the well for gas when he spotted the Kb group. He was well wrapped to be received with open arms, and as it turned out, he was a very useful addition with his Whangarei based rescue contacts.
I expect he will sign up anytime soon.
Say hi when you get here gavin.

    Thumbs up w00tt!!!

One hellava good day, big ups to the organisers
Loved the paparoa to oakleigh road - I've never ridden that route before, at last I have another road to cut down the painful SH1 rides to Whangarei. (Even the wellsford->mangawhai->waipu->whangarei route has too much SH1 pain in it)
After the others (well... three of the others - where did the rest go?) hooked up with us again (post crash) at maungatapere, we split again in order to get back to auckland for the joe satriani gig.
A wix ride back down the okara valley was followed by pain and cop paranoia down to waipu whereupon the demons were let loose again through to managwhai. Mono
opened his ZX-636 up a couple of times and man... it is going to FLY when he lets it loose! Rain/Drizzle marred the run from mangawhai to wellsford but the warm road soon dried and the natural order of things was restored... On the turnoff to Peak road (after Kaukapakapa?) we did the r6 vs the 636 (only going to 11k
rpm (apparently...)) thing and oh dear... my precious baby has been subdued... I'm thinking NoS now ...

re. the ck mirror incident [insert ck quote] "It came loose so I tightened it up by hand... it came loose again so I thought 'Skrew it, she'll be okay'..."
    Hur hur... mebbe not then...
It was funny somehow, quite apart from my unsuccessfully dodging the little bastard and subsequently blasting mono's (oscar) brand shiny new baby with glass and debris. At least no major damage was done (cept to the wayward mirror).
Anyways... more pics from mono's camera, and look out for a couple of upcoming rides - A big ride that mono's been badgering about - down coromandal way then inland... that ends at the puke trackday, and most definitely my favorite piece of road - the Old Russell Road (think the mangawhai->langs beach gorge, but 46Kms
    long and no traffic).

Man roo i will catch you one day apparently the cbr has 105bhp at the crank (mine has probably a bit more with the zorst) will get that stupid chain gaurd problem sorted. But if ever you doing that road again give me a call. As to the ride back there was a little to much of one as you said but will have to investigate roadage i the area. Man i would hate to think about what oscar could do when he has run the thing in....... first thing would be to get a steering dampner hahahahaha.
