mate forget about going faster. That lil bike still has waay unexplored potential. Focus on getting the best you can outa that lil bike as it stands
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

I see what you'll are saying........

I guess I need to focus on the correct gear selection around the twisties.....

Sometimes I'm down in third and at full throttle waiting for some go to kick in ........second gear and it just makes noise but doesnt do much else......

and I'm sure I can still lean more be a bit more agressive in corners.........

Lets see will ask some of the bigger fellas this weekend......

over-steer is when there is no traction on the rear wheel and it begins to slide/spin and try to overtake the front.........this is where counter steer is used -countering the angle of slide- while holding power on so as to regain traction at the rear wheel without "over correcting" -counter steering too far resulting in bodies gettin freindly with the road-

justsomeguy- sounds like you will be able to push your bike a fair bit further than you have. i find between 10-14000 rpms the most fun on the ZZR th "Z Zone" just try not to run out of revs on a corner.......

see if you can keep up to some of the guys on bigger bikes, easily acheivable for the bike through twisty roads and knowing the bike will do it takes away a fair bit of the paranoia "ie the guy in front of me hit that corner at 90 i'll jst hold the f*** on and hope for the best........

Over the years I have found it can sometimes be more fun riding a little bike fast rather than cheating? and using horsepower. Practice and show us horsepower cheats how to ride. You can do it. I'm still learning that the biggest handicap we have is our minds.

As in Starsky and Hutch.......DO IT...DO IT....DO IT

BS - Countersteer is what you do every time you go round a corner on a bike. You're just talking about correcting oversteer.

John, how hard have you rev'd your ZXR? Supposedly the CBR is meant to be limited to 18000 isn't it, but I've been up to/over 21000

Well I've had it to 2100 or sumthing? (end of the tach).

But I hear that the tachos are overasumptious so that people dont go over 18500rpm so they add a few thousand to the speedo.

i.e it says your doing 16000, when you are actually doing 14000 or something - but I'm not entirely sure.

At the track day at Manfield, the bike will sart to idle at 18500. I only went further than that cause the rear wheel decided to jump a meter to the right on a corner and I managed to find false neutral between 3 and 4 (that jump was bloody awesome though)

Its a shame I took the front fairing off cause that was really slowing me down that day. I might manage top speed next time with the fairing on

False neutrals suck when you are going round a corner and it just slips in. Then you try find a gear and keep the corner speed up without lighting the rear wheel.

Idling at 18500? man - is that a human idle speed or after startup? :P

Wrong word I guess by your answer

18500 was as far as I could rev it whilst accelerating. I was doing about 160 in 5th, and the wind wasn't letting me go much faster as there was nothing up front to deflect it

OK but only $160?? Even my baby elephant of a bike manages that........... must of been a pretty strong head wind...... were you crouched right down??

Mini-me was easily hitting bout $180 yesterday on his ZXR 2fiddy........

Is there any smoke coming out of your exhaust?

Becuase if there isnt then you are lucky (sort of?!), check the underpan - check your oil filter and oil release valve cap, good luck with finding the leak

It looked like there were a couple of rastafarians having a smoke down there......

And I was dropping around 5 tablespoons of oil every time I stopped for a red light.......

The stuff has pooled up under the engine on to the bottom of the fairing........

Quite a few drops all over my rear tyre too...... things a bloody mess
