    Source for seat foam?

Well, not really seat foam. i have a backrest on the Scrambler, and it has a bolt up pad for the pillion to rest against. I need to upholster the pad and my partner has access to the machinery required to sew the cover and whatnot.

The foam that I have in the shed is blue, 60mm thick closed cell foam which I had for packing out the seat, hip and knee area of whitewater kayaks. Its from para and labelled PE30. Its the least "hard" closed cell foam they make, but it is still very "hard" feeling, and not in that good way you're thinking.

I was going to just buy a bit of upholstery foam from Para, but all the foam I looked at looked too soft. It was open cell too, so would absorb water (potentially causing the back rest to rust.....

Basically I am looking for a pointer as to where in Christchurch I might source the "proper" foam for upholstering a motorbike seat, if there is such a thing.

    Dimensions are about 150 x 200 by say 60 or 75 mm.

    Thanks in advance.

They're not in Chch, but give 'Foam Distibutors' a try - you'll find them on the web somewhere - we source all our foam products (for a hospital) from them and they're pretty helpfull
