    Yellow Pages bloody useless! LOL!

I usually have yellow and white pages in the browser flick it up and use the net for finding a number. Haven't been able to get the site lately, it just comes up as an error. So picked up the new book thought I give them a quick tinkle to see if the problem was my end or if they've taken www whitepages and www. yellow off the net!

    General inquiry 0800 803 803 dial 3 then 2!

Well its 30 mins on hold now!
I could be ringing for a 10K multi spread ad for all they know! LOL!!

BTW I'm drawing a plan for someones addition, phones on speaker and the Split Ends and assorted music on hold is ok, so not loosing any work time!

PS: I'm an Architectural designer with a 3d cad program. Bit short of work because of the slow down anyone doing alterations call me!!! You should be doing them now, low Mortgage rates, builders rates good at the moment. Nows the time! When things pick up builders will be in short supply and prices will climb again and you'll have built at the cheapest time!

35 mins now, 5 mins to type this! Oh well back to work!

another post in 5 mins! Any bets on how long I'm going to be on hold!!!!

    OK must be my end!
Still the being on hold is a bit of a laugh 50 mins now!
I'll open another tab in explorer and do a google in case there's a fault in my shortcut!
    Cheers for that!

I understand Yellow Pages now charge for access from commercial users, your employers may not be prepared to pay so access is blocked from their network. For this reason I can't access it from work either.

We have two internet connections here to different ISPs. It doesn't work on the TelstraClear connection but does on the other one. Both resolve to the same IP. Tracert gives the same results through both. Weird.

    nonsence.

    I will tell you why:

Their business is selling advertising. How can they do that if they turn to customers and say: "OK from next week we are stopping companies being able to view your add online unless they specifically pay us to be able to do so. Hope thay you dont mind that XX% of your customers will not be able to see your ad.

    - and where on the site is their "register and pay for access signup button"

    - and how can they tell its a business.

Other than that you argument holds up just fine. Now want to buy a bridge?

Sorry Tank one of the questions she asked me on the phone was if I was a heavy user. They do block companies for over using it. She said there is a warning given when you go in and then they block you if you continue to over use.

Not the problem in my case she said to contact my ISP which is Xnet. Sorry love I said, To much hassle. I'll just let my fingers do the walking, if they cannot get their site to work its their advertisers that will be missing my prospective business. I don't have a hassle with any other site??

All I can say is: the books are way smaller this year so they must be getting far less advertising, it took an hour to get through, their site doesn't work and they want me to fix it??

Would you deal with a company like this! Wonder why the books are smaller!
I'm not worried though, couldn't give a damn really, I'm just not as flat out as usual so have the time for silly threads, their loss

    Lucky you

I advertise in yellow pages as does a few of my mates. Yellow pages every so often takes close to 4k out of my bank account (yep $4000) well after I have paid there account and then hides the money.
Normally takes 3 hours on the phone, multiple calls and 3 days for them to find the money before they give it back. If I didnt call, they would never "find" the money to give it back. Nice system as if you dont chase it up HARD, its untracable. The perfect crime
Im not the only person they have done it to, I know of at least 2 other cases.

I'm just trying to be helpful by reporting (as nearly as I can recall) from a notice that was circulated by my employer. I know, it lacked detail but I was hopeful it would prompt a more knowledgeable party to help clarify matters.

Thats for companies who use the numbers for generating vast numbers of calls directly via a call centre - effectively using yellow pages as the contact database for cold calling. Never could you get to be blocked for using Yellow pages by manual lookups - even with NZ's largest companies.

Dear clockwork - I see you edited your post before I quoted it. No Im not confusing you with DB - and no I'm not a serial cyber bully.

What I am doing is calling bullshit when someone types unsubstantiated shit and reporting something credible: "I understand Yellow Pages now charge for access from commercial users, your employers may not be prepared to pay so access is blocked from their network. For this reason I can't access it from work either. "

So dont get your panties all screwed up when someone comes and says thats a pile of steaming shit. Hell - to back up my argument I even gave reasonable arguments as to why.

But hey - if you prefer to go thru life just believing everything everyone says and calling everyone a bully and crying just because they use their brains and think something thru - then go for it.
