I bought my locally made (Leda) leathers because I could go and visit and get measured up. Being a bit rotund, I couldn't find textile (or off-the-shelf leather) gear (particularly trou) that fitted right.

So if I was able to get made-to-measure cordura, yes I might. Not at the moment though; my wallet is tighter than my belt.

I'm new to Motorcycling after a long break - too long. Anyway I'm looking for some gear and would definitely consider Kiwi-made if it was of good quality and fairly priced.

Is fairly priced considered on the cost of quality materials, and a reasonable payment on labour for skills learned in design and construction, and cost of equipment, and covering the time to make?

Or fairly priced against products imported from overseas?

If someone is prepared to pay me for my time and skills....I am prepared to pay someone likewise.

Ive had a Jet Leathers jacket which ive worn almost everyday for the past 18years.

Looking at their website it appears to be the Bravo style.

Its on its 3rd zip, taken a few tumbles, and its not as black as it once was, but other that it's definately
stood the test of time. I get the odd hassel for it being old skool styles and all that, but I would not even
concider replacing it with something newer and flashier.

MY Naturalwear gear has just ticked over 20 years and still ok

I will pay slighty higher cost to buy anything NZ made provided it is of an acceptable qulaity

Kerrie from Motorcycle Safety Wear http://www.msw.co.nz/ in St Kevins Arcade in K Road, Auckland, makes very good gear. She custom makes everything to fit you perfectly. She sources the leather from NZ tanneries. She is a lovely lady and makes an excellent product from all accounts. She has been in business for approx 20 years, and knows her stuff.

    A good local choice.

So 200BUSA .... people are buying NZ made quality leather gear. There is a market for good quality, even if it does cost a little bit more than gear made overseas.

Best of luck with your venture !!

absolutely. I have found however that her leathers have shrunk over the past couple of years. Quite alarming.....

Just waiting to get samples made up. But everything looking good so far. And will be better than your average 600denier cordura- going one better. And the price is looking good to at this stage.

Have had my pricing done and now waiting to sort out some samples.
Will be getting jackets and pants made to order, so will be able to do custom fitting.
