D, you will really need to find a map which shows a bit more detail that the whole world. You can get to Kopara from either the Jacksons/Lake Brunner end off the Arthurs Pass rd (47.7km) or from Ngahere half way between Reefton and Greymouth (34.9km). It is not a main highway (hard packed dirt for most of the way) but no problems for any bike.

Magic. A leisurely ride through thick bush (beech etc) past a lake or two out to the end of beyond. Haupiri, a little past Kopara, is the end of the road and has a bunch of old logging stuff and sawmill.

Mr. Cooper, the head of the Cooperite cult/community have their property in the area. There was a book about him released this week I believe (this is NOT an invitation for this thread to go )

The last time I was out that way was about twenty years ago. Did a delivery late one night nobody was around then total darkness gave me the willies. That was before Mr Copper move in up the road, so should of been safe I guess.
A very good pick, well done to Mr & Mrs Shrek for their work.

At the Bushmans centre in Pukekura (not far south of Ross) on the south island west coast. Is a mossie they captured and stuffed. Then hung it out to dry. It now doubles as an "open" sign. If you see it... they're open. "Repellants" are measured in caliber... not content.

Pictured is the one I'm talking about.

The 'Puke pub is just across the road. Not a bad stop.

I reckon the road in is not sealed.. or straight, to stop the mossies using it for a landing strip. Perhaps the real use for that cannon was anti air "craft" ???
