    Goggle it.
Umm yes my apologies, my point was more rhetoric. I mean when your comparing the likes of a legend to a one off wonder, it is as good as Rossi having won 6 world titles and Stoner none.

I see. And Rossi is 30 now yeah? And Stoner is what...22 yeah? So you think Stoner is a one off wonder? Have you ever been to a GP? Do you seriously think that after all of his years racing at the top level...and after 8 titles Rossi isn't being shown up by Stoner? Remember this. No matter how fast you are...someone will always come along that's faster than you. You're witnessing this now. It's called changing of the guard.

Lets get rid of all the electronic crap and go back to old school............backin it in and smokin it up on the way out. Then you will really see who's got the most talent

Watching last year when Rossi and Stoner were going at it, they showed the combined telemetry and it was quite astonishing that Stoner was using 100% throttle at every apex......................is it just that Stoner has a better grasp on the techie shit than his fellow teamates? He's definately a great rider, but lets see what happens when its all down to rider input rather than a black box doing it for ya.

In response to your questions, yes there is about an 8 year age differential between the two racers, not uncommon is motorsport I might point out. No I have never been to a moto GP but I have been to Italy, Spain and Venice have you? , but of cause this is irrelevant.

So moving on, no I do not sincerely believe that Rossi is being 'shown up'by Stoner. As - If . What I do see is almost a mockery of skill v/s arrogance. Stoner is a lad, has a lot of talent but Rossi is an experienced racer, much more so that Stoner. I see him toying with stoner pushing him harder than he can go and making him crack. Would you like me to site a few examples from the season just past? I think this would be unnceessarry as I know you watch it as much as I do.

    Er...the changing of the guard?
    Maybe.

But how many pretenders did Doohan see off?
    How many has Rossi crushed?
I think we forget that Rossi on the 990 Yamaha was a long shot at the title, and that when he lost it to Hayden, it was supposed to be the resurgence of Honda...
I was at Phillip Island when he got that 10 sec. penalty, and in the face of a great field he simply pulled out at .5 sec a lap until he was winning (and the fact that he worked out from a pit board that said "P1 - 10.00" says a lot about his intelligence and coolness under pressure).

    Rossi likes being the underdog.

Over the past ten years we've seen the likes of Max, Loris and Danni come and go (and in the case of the latter, he may come again).

Stoner isn't a one off wonder, but only time will tell if he's worthy of another title. How many newbies are in the field in 2009, ready to outshine both of them?

Fast Freddie=youngest ever 500cc world champ by a few days i think, but it was another example of the young bucks rising above the old guard.King Kenny ring any bells.

No arguement here regarding Stoners talent but I think Rossi has sucked us in.The Stoner challenge is what Rossi gets off on,remember the moves he pulled on Gibernau and the baiting of Biaggi let alone the Laguna race last year.He lives for this stuff and the battles on track are the icing on the cake.A real racers racer and thank god for Sete,Max and Casey coz without them Rossi would'nt be the greatest.

The older Rossi gets, it seems the more aggressive he's prepared to be on track.Bring it on i say, chuck in the mix Dovioso and Lorenzo and this year should be a corker.

As for Ben Spies going to WSB...now theres a momma's boy.

Care to name anyone that's won a race on the thing (other than Stoner) in it's 800cc guise?
Yeah, capirossi won at motegi in 07, same race that stoner sealed the title (sorry, couldn't resist)

Actually, I don't rate him as much as Stoner or Rossi, but it was the best pic I took last year....
Oscar, I'm picking Dovi as a big surprise this year, just wait till the scapping starts. gaz.

    Dark horse - Lorenzo
    Fastest Horse - Rossi
    Prancing Horse -Stoner

I wonder which one is gonna go lame, or get a bit frisky & tell its rider to get off. Which one will be good out of the gate & which will be the stayer ?. Which one will produce the most shit and which one will "Whinny (whinge) the most.

Fickle things these horses........My pick overall is the one from Tavullia

    Gonna be a great season.

Here's a pretty good overview of Stoner's career.

Around 5 minutes in the movie, some good sliding action!

Stoner has the the car, but Vale has the cup!

Rossi could of closed that gap if Elais hadn't of been in the way...... Still tho, he wouldn't of been faster than Casey, but hey wasn't Stoner faster than Rossi at Laguna last year?

I got a new one for the book and for all the Duc knockers, the frame AND swingarm are now carbon fibre....

With out a doubt the wingnut is a true weapon, and anyone who knocks 'em is delusion or a die hard fan of another rider.

I think Casey has along way to go tho, before he is any where near the legend that Rossi is.

    Great thread tho

    He can never match Rossi.

    125
    250
    500
    990
    800

    Rossi has a full set.
No one can ever match that.

I think Stoner just has too mature alittle, he has talant for sure.. even Troy couldn't tame the Duc and went back to SBK. Have yet to see any another Ducati rider up there with Stoner???? So to master that bike must say something about his riding skills. Just matter of time for him to grow, not so much with skilled riding, but in the mind.

Rossi just has that all round talant on and off the track, the few more years under his belt does him better than Stoner, give stoner a few more years were will he be??

End the day, damn good racing to watch, and HUGE balls in keeping those bikes under control, lets hope they can keep fighting it out without any one getting killed aye, THAT would be a waste!
DUCATI ------- A real bike in a sea of shit!
