Hi all
There are a lot of people really keen to plan their riding, and normally at this time the calendar looks a bit bare. But in the last few weeks most clubs have set there events calendars, so until the little promotional card we give out is printed, this is how you find out what's on.
Go to the respective club's websites.

www.motorcyclingcanterbury.org.nz
All the Canterbury dates plus info on club membership and renewing/applying for competition license. This club is pretty well the "hub" of the junior road racing activities so it's important to be a member, as the newsletters will always keep you right up date with matters and events of importance.

This club is primarily for classic racing, but has a strong interest in supporting the young riders. Except for specialist "classic only" events Streetstock is very welcome. It's planning a busy calendar including a (members only) street race in Methven next year. Membership for juniors riders (under 18years old) is only $20. The club also has a Honda 175 post classic pre '72 bike available for new riders. Some of you have already ridden it and it goes well. Contact me to "book in" for future CAMS or BEARS meetings.
(Will not be available at other club's meetings) CAMS is also supporting Bucket racing in a big way so there's a lot of good reasons to join this club.

They run the winter series in the mid North Island. Check their calendar if you want to travel up there. We will arrange a special group from the South Island to go to their late Sept 2day meeting (26th / 27th)

Mostly "b" track ruapuna, buckets, post classics etc

A good calendar

A great event, this year I hope to arrange a team of young riders riding the really old girder fork type bikes. If you are interested in riding one of these dinosaurs, let me know.

www.100yearsouthcanterbury.co.nz
This is a celebration of bikes in Timaru on Labour weekend. Some of us will be over at Greymouth, but I understand the young riders on Streetstock bikes will be welcomed at the Levels event.

So now you all know what's going on. Just get busy and get your memberships and licenses up to date. If you are 15 or older, get a senior license. (If you stay on a junior license it will stop you riding lots of different bikes and at some events.) Also, get a "full" license, not the cheaper "club" license. new license holders will have to get the form off www.mnz.co.nz and post it away. Existing
License holders can do it online through this site.

Sportzfotoz Cup
Don't forget this is on 12th July at Teretonga.
Study up on the rules on www.sportzfotoz.co.nz. One thing to mention is that the restriction on age and experience is based on the first round you ride, not the later ones. I will be sending a list of "possible" riders to Jenni Gibson. When you get there check the details with Jenni.
On the Saturday the circuit is available for practice as well. If you're keen to do the practice, let me know and I can advise Southland of the interest level. A good scheme is to travel down early on Sat morning (Leave at 3am!) so you get there at 11am. Also, the race programme should finish early for Streetstock on Sunday, allowing people to get away home to Christchurch in reasonable time.
Other classes at this meeting include Classic (all years) Clubmans, road riders, "Formula" and Motards
Entry for juniors (under 18) is $20.
Street and Sport Motorcycles is helping us out with a big van for this trip down. Please support them, they're certainly good to us.
The next Kiwi Rider Magazine will have an article about the Sportzfotoz Cup, and we'll keep the country up to date with each round as we go. Thanks to Kiwi Rider for supporting us

Moving up
Often at this time a lot of young riders are thinking of moving up from Streetstock. The main choices are Pro Twin and 125GP if the ambitions are to fully develop as a competitive national level rider. Working out a plan that's best is not easy so get good advice before you commit to anything. These classes are expensive and complex so it needs to planned carefully. Talk to Steve Ward and / or Kev Goddard regarding 125GP. Dennis Charlett or most of the experienced Pro Twin Riders can help with good advice if you're looking that way. If you're desperate to you could even talk to me. With 3 of my sons I've been involved with six 125GP, one pro twin and two 600Sport Prod championships

Streetstock 250cc 4 Stroke twins
This is a new class MNZ is proposing, which is designed to provide security to all the good things in Streetstock, currently built
around 150cc 2 strokes. These 2 strokes may not last forever! have a look on the MNZ site re the proposed rules. Any comments get them to your club meetings or to me so we can get these rules as best we can before they come in on Jan 1st. In the meantime Motorcycling Canterbury welcomes these bikes to race right now in with Streetstock. So if you're keen, get one underway.

Streetstock rules
Now we're underway with competitive riding, it pays to remind ourselves of the rules. See MNZ web site and be sure you are compliant. Sometimes people think it's all a bit vague, but in production racing there are some basic principles.
If you can add it, the rules will list it.
If you can remove it, will be listed
If you can alter it etc etc.
So that's pretty easy, if you want to add, remove or alter you must find it listed as OK in the rules
On the day, in the situation of protest, it will be the Steward who decides. But in the meantime, if anyone has any doubts, they can contact me and I'll do my best to help clarify any concerns. Remember the MNZ motto "safe, fun and FAIR"

All the best and looking forward to July 12th
