    Thumbs down Bloody wrist... MumbleGrumble

Well, this is how it happened...

Was heading down the hill with my feet on the frame of my awesome 'Purple Cobra' pushbike. Decided to stand up to get a better view.

That was all fine, untill I needed to get down, so I put one foot on a pedal, and went careering into the pavement, then into a tree. Kindly, the two people I was riding to the river with decided to go on ahead and leave me on the ground, trying to find something to chop off my wrist with.

So after briefly contemplating my options, decided to lay on the grass for 10 minutes or so, in hopes of passing out.

Sadly, this did not happen. So instead I got my bike, and pushed it up a hill by myself. Got home, and lay on bed (you can see by this stage that horizontal was a much better position, gravity wasn't liking me yesterday)

An hour later, my parental unit got home with a couple of pizzas, and wondered why I was laying on my bed, leaving a nice little blood stain on it.

2 hours and 1 pizza later, I was forced to go to the after hours. According to them, I had broken my bloody wrist. Great. First broken bone, ever.

So off we wen't in the accentmobile to Lower Hutt hospital, where We had a lovely wait. Got some xrays, and in the end, it turns out it was just severely sprained, bruised, and for want of a better word, fucked.

So here I am, off school, and bored and hurting.

Just thought I'd give you this charming little story in the hopes that you don't try and imitate my actions

    Doh!
Sprains can hurt a damned site worse than breaks mate, so I feel for you. I've had sprained ankles on several occasion and broken my left ankle once (all rugby injuries). On pain value alone I'd opt for the break any day as it was far less painful.

    Hope it gets better soon.

Argh, so I got off lucky? And unlucky? Well, whatever the case, it's pissing me off, coz now I can't play guitar (and just as I was learning some Vai!)

And not to mention I can't do anything, coz it hurts whenever I move. At least my good hand is still rocking. Sent about 200 texts just waiting at the hospital...

Did they put it in a cast in case you have broken your scaphoid ? (The break often doesn't show up on x-ray)

If not, get some physio asap - it will hurt, but it will minimise problems later.

Shame about the pain. Make sure you get it sorted NOW or it'll come back and haunt you. I have an unjoined fracture from 20 or so years ago and a year ago screwed a ligament as well. I've had a dull ache at best ever since. Make the effort and give it time to heal before you start pushing it again. I know that can be difficult when you're young and have lots to do, and it's a nice day, and everyone else is doing something, and etc etc . . . .

Physio is well worth doing. I used to be a sceptic till I banged up my shoulder and got some, along with acupuncture, heat, and some sort of sonic treatment. It'd be great for 2 days or so and then deteriorate till the next session. ACC should pay for ir as well so no reason not to. It is worth doing though.

    Hope it all comes good.
