Brilliant idea. Hell it's fun being the top one or two in the group anyway. Then you know it's time to move up for sure.
Totally. There's plenty of room for a faster rider in group 4. If you're really that fast that it's a problem they'll ask you to move up a group. Chances are you'll just end up in clear air ahead of everyone
Yep it's a great help. It's also a great way to crash or at least find the limits of your sphincter muscles
When following a faster rider you don't know what tyres that guy is on and you probably don't have the mid corner braking finesse. Your suspension probably won't be setup as well either. In other words the chances of you exceeding the limit before you realise you're at it are quite high.
April/May the track is going to be fairly cold so it's even worse as the total grip level is lower at least until after lunch.
For a second trackday I'd be focusing on sorting lines, finding brake/turn/apex/exit markers and being as smooth as possible (but still firm) on brakes and gas. There's more than enough there to keep you going if you focus on one of those per session and you'll come out WAY faster as a result.
EDIT: I'll probably come out for a session in group 4 to show a mate who's a trackday virgin some lines so feel free to tag along if you want. I'm the guy on the bike and leathers of my profile pic. Will be in garage 18.
Anyone know if its the full track ie full pelt around turn 9 or is that section slowed by the slightly different route??
Its on track 1, http://www.motott.co.nz/TRACK1.gif
Bring back the hybrid tracks I say...

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
