Production naked bikes. Questions answered I hope.

    Hi all again........

Thanks for all the posts to my message.

Instead of answering them all on that post, I thought I would do a new one.
Some questions I will answer here, but other questions/thoughts I will answer on a seperate post, that is totally for that question......like what to do about the overall National Race scene etc.

F3......with the Ozzy 450 idea, I think this is great. All of a sudden, F2 600's and SP 600 bikes that are not really competitive in those classes anymore, now become rather competive again and give new life to older race bikes. Awesome.

Privateer class......bike modification rules. I feel that the privateer bikes, should be upto (but not past) the same spec as the factory bikes. Reason being, we sell our factory bikes pretty well after the current season, and generally sell them to guys racing in the Nationals (who would come under the Privateer ruling).........and there are a lot of these bikes out there now in private hands.

So, would it be fair to make them detune (engine/suspension) them back to a more basic bike, after paying for a full race bike?? I think not.
Progression always happens, that is how good factory bikes make it down the line, because manufacturers are updating their certain models all the time, so the factory bikes are basically always going to have an edge on non factory bikes. What ever the rules are......mainly because the factories have the resorurces behind them to test, test, and test, both on the track and on the dyno.

Naked Production class diluting F2-F1 Class and other classes.
    No......I don't think so......and I hope not.

The class I want to start, is ONLY a National class, so only run during the National Championship. So, those riders who have or would purchase a naked bike to race in this National Class, would still race their bike in the F1-F2 class at regional and club racing.
And, F1-F2 is only run at regional and cluB events, apart from the Street racing.

And, part of the aim of Nakeds, is for guys to be able to race their lightly modified Naked bike at the Nationals and then ride it home if they so wished. 2 bikes in one.
Also, to try and help promto the Kiwi attitude of "Having a go" that someone mentioned and feel is currently missing.

Me......well, I would look at racing the Benelli or the Moto Morini.....something completely different and I reckon would be cool to see out there.
Plus, I am not too worried if someone wanted to race the latest Honda Predetor etc. I think the SuperDuke R, or a Tuono Factory would be very hard to beat, even if they did not have the power of the Fazer or Predetor. The more different old and new bikes out there the better.

One make classes.......this has been mentioned a few times I see. Basic problem here is population. Even overseas, the one make classes don't always go to plan. And, at the end of the day, with out limited population size, I think part of the reason this would not work, is that people like been able to race the manufacturer they really preffer and support.

Well, that is what I think anyway.......... how do you guys/girls feel about it??

Also, you will see if the very near future, alot more European bikes back into the National Superbike Champs. The new base model Aprilia RSV4, Duc 1198, BMW and KTM 1158 (or what ever their full size bike is) will be very competitive against the Japanese bikes. So it will be great to see them in the class soon.

Clubmans.........down here, we ran the Clubmans class as a support class at both Levels and Ruapuna rounds of the Nationals. This allows people to compete in a National event, without having to feel the pressure on trying to stay out of the way of Robbie, Stroudie etc and yet still have fun and feel that they are invloved at a National level. Which I think is important.

One little component I would like to see added to this though, is that if there were any riders racing in Clubmans that were doing lap times, that would have them well within their respective National class (SBK, 600's or F3/Pro Twins).......then they would have to step up to that class for the Sunday's racing.

    Thoughts on that.........????

Un-competitive bikes.......ok, some of you feel that your bikes are uncompetitive for the National class, and you maybe right, with regards to competiting against the top riders.

But, look at how well Dave Manuell (I spell that correctly???) raced during the Nationals. I was really impressed with how he went, on his old Suzuki GSXR K2-3. His race craft improved no end.........Just like Eddie's, Sloan's and Rhys's did in Superbikes, because they raced in the Nationals, against riders who really are up there in their ability, speed, and class. There by, this flowed back into making them quicker.
At the end of the day, if you don't compete against fast people, then you will never get fast yourself.........what ever you ride.

Increasing public interest of National Championship........ok, this is a real pet of mine and my ramblings and thoughts of what I think will take up too much space here, so I will leave this for it's own post.

Oh, I hope to have James doing some races in Aussie this year, in their National Championship. Either in the Super Stock 1000'S or the Supersport 600's.
Pity more can't get over there to race too.

Ok, let me know your thoughts again please. Hopefully I have been able to answer some peoples questions.

    Cheers,
    Red.

    Heya Red
Good to seeya posting ideas on here.
The issue as I see it is that we need to stand back and look at the BIG picture for our sport from the point of view of attracting and developing new riders (youngsters as well as born again rider/racer types).
Adding another class at national level without the supporting structure of club level racing worries me a tadd.
I suggested something along the lines of a +2 class for nationals
2 year old or older bikes on the same grid as the latest developed bikes
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Love your work Red. Still worried about class dilution but youve thought about this a lot.

Hi Guys great ideas , but at the moment there is no series. Read my comments from other threads below. I think the problem of a series has to be sorted first.

    Hi Guys

I would like to voice my opinion on the matter of Paul S not standing for commissioner. As a member of the close team that ran the series , I am qualified to let you know what shit has happened over the last few months.

However first things first , Paul may have decided to not run. But what you the riders have to realise that it is not just Paul you may have lost but also the volunteer team behind the scenes , you know the people , the ones who put all the flags up and scaffolds and signage for the sponsors and TV , run the internet site for the champs which by the way is no more , which by the way gave coverage to get over 60,ooo individual users and over 1,500,000 hits from March 08 to March 09.the same people who organise the prize givings , commentate , feed the riders on race day morning and do countless other things that many riders take for granted. I'm not talking about the clubs , I'm talking about the series people.

Remember riders we did all the stuff to the best that we could do for amateurs , so you guys could get your fun out on the track , weekend in and weekend out.

We got bagged for the low turn outs at the nationals , we got bagged at Paeroa and on the radio by a well know commentator , we got bagged by the governing body , we got bagged for the lack of TV coverage .

You name it we got bagged for it. And yet we the team , Paul Stewart , Jim T , Jim D , Ian , Guy , Neil , Paul and Heather Seranake and Lynda Blair did it because we loved the sport , but to be honest , it is a job anyone can do , well isn't it? . Well now your chance to find out , someone pick up the batten and lets see what you can do.

The series is not run by one person and it doesn't really matter about how much money is being spent or how much talk is talked , the series does not happen without a group of people who are prepared to do it because they love the sport first for no wages other than some expenses in some cases.

Great idea. I suggest we get the ball rolling by making ProTwin a naked bike only class next year. Got to save a few bucks for newcomers to this entry level begineers class and get more into the great sport of roadracing.

And have a ProTwin Junior (up to 650cc) and ProTwin Senior (Open)
