We have about 70-odd (some, very!) members and while there is a small group of people who always seem to be there helping out no matter what the event is, we do have a pretty good bunch of people and a lot do put their hands up to say they are keen to help out. Hell, last track day we even had a guy join on the day, not ride, but help out! And, like any club, there are people who have never helped out and you wonder why they bother joining a club - oh, that's right, to take advantage of the subsidised events!
As mentioned (here or another thread), Manfeild used to say nothing on the track before 10am. Not sure when they changed it but we've carried on working on that time - so this may be looked at for future track days. It would mean a bit more organisation on our part, but the committee will talk about this and see what the consensus is.
We don't do it as a business, we do it to make some money (or to make very little if it rains, or the track is closed due to flooding like it was a year or so back) for our club members. We could run more track days but I doubt anyone would be keen to volunteer once it looked like being a money spinner, they'd want paying and fair enough. Unfortunately we often get bumped off days we book so some years we can't even run two track days - because we run them on Saturdays or Sundays. Many track days run as a business run them during the week but with volunteers that is not an option for us. It is likely someone will move in and start running it as a business but I doubt it will be us. And I bet whoever does run it will be charging a shitload more than $50 a day!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
