We're Ok at work. We use AVG professional as our anti virus and it is supposed to 'find and heal' any infections.

I read up about the worm today. Part of it's naughtiness is that it prevents the user from accessing sites that can help heal the infection. One of these is Microsoft SOOOO ... if you're worried you are infected, try to log onto www.microsoft.com . If you can then you are probably not infected by this beastie or it's variants.

If you're talking about "downadup" it's been known about for ages and if your servers are properly patched it shouldn't have been an issue
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

The visor should be pretty easy and standard to open on an AGV Helmet...

Now, if you had AVG Anti-Virus... which version do you have

Just about everywhere I 've looked that mentions this worm is offering a "1 year subscription to blah blah blah to prevent this worm from affecting your pc" which suggests to me that it either originated at a major software house on purpose or is just another hoax.

Usually when they are really bad arse worms the patches to fix them are free.

I presume the square icon in the system tray (bottom right, by the computer clock) is grey, instead of being red, yellow green and black? You should be able to right click on it, and open the software. On the left hand side, look for Update now (or something, don't have it on this PC) and it should tootle off to update.

If it doesn't update, either the installation is messed up (happens from time to time) and you need to re-install (and AVG 8.5 Free is now out) or a virus/spyware/malware is deliberately blocking AVG from doing anything...
