The 'Dancing with the Stars' thread. Is no one else going to start it?

I've been waiting ... hoping someone else would start this thread but it seems all are afraid of the scorn which comes from being the initiator. I don't give a shit now. There's only 3 more weeks to go. Scorn away!

What a travesty last night! Tigger ... gone! Wahhhh!
Still, don't matter in the long run as Tamati is the man.

Ah ha - I knew you'd be a Honda owner..........

I must say the ability of the dresses to survive the dance and heavy breathing afterwards is most impressive.......

As a "serious" ballroom dancer from way back, one who has competed for many years and indeed represented NZ on one occasion, I get fed up with the fact that DWTS is less a dance competition than a popularity poll. Last night's result is just one of many indications of this state of affairs. Look at how long certain double left footed klutzes (you know who I mean) have lasted in previous shows...I would rather see either a real dance comp or a popularity poll. Not this hybrid thingy we are fed. But then, this is a typical reaction of someone who follows any discipline in depth - the purist's view if you like.

Having said that I do watch most episodes, although last night the VCR failed to ignite for some arcane reason and I have had to go without, buggritbuggritbuggrit. I like to see just what some of celebs can do with minimal (albeit intensive) training. I have danced with and indeed against many of the pro partners over the years - in some cases watching them from childhood, so have a close interest in what they achieve with their untrained partners. I also watched one of the buggers rip off one of our steps in the Tango last week...

Grizzles aside, I do enjoy it, although there are moments when I have to look away...

Have to agree with you Slofox.

I bet that Tamati will win in the popularity stakes.

IMO, Tamati and Barbara are the best dancers but that don't necessarily mean they will win.

I could also point out that it is much harder for the amateur man to look as good as the amateur woman...in principle, he leads, she follows, although there are many exceptions in practice. Just look at Stephano - he can make anyone look good...

Interesting I reckon the amatuer guys have it easier than the girls as the guys, although they need to lead are dancing with well skilled gals who could probably look good being led by a chimp and lets face it...you end up watching the chicks more anyway. The girls have to pull off way fancy and flouncyer (is that even a word - meh who cares) moves...SO unco chicks are more easily shown up than the unco guys I reckon.

Saying all this I actually haven't watched any of this season at all - so I have no idea who is on it (apart from Tamati and Rebecca who has now apparently gone) or how well any of them dance. Can't be bothered and Sully HATES the show with a vengeance

The whole show has run it's course and should be dumped or renamed "Dancing with the Homo's"

It's not even entertaining anymore, even her indoors has had enough. John.

The whole show was redeemed last night by the marvellous "come in my pants" comment and the ejection of that bouncing grinning fool, man I was sick of looking at her gums.

I was actually thinking of making a thread last night!

I love Josh, I loved him back in the day and I love watching him dancing. I do vote for him because of his attitude and how he is improving.

Barbara and Tamati are the main good dancers. The old bitch will go next week, which is kind of sad because she is rather entertaining.

Did anyone catch the show on after? Very strange NZ show!!

    Go Josh!!
I'm gonna make it so PC

Dancing with the stars?? In NZ?

So it's more likely to be:

"Dancing with the Shortland Street/Former Shortland Street 'actors', a 'celebrity' (who no-one is actually sure how they became a celebrity) and at least one former international sports player, all desperately clinging to whatever 'fame' they once had from an adoring public. All slowly realising that their frantic hammering on the big red "attention" button is resulting in increasingly diminishing returns and that their 'careers' are circling the drain"

    Sort of thing??
