    Smile Naki guys

Hi folks coming up over easter and wanting ideas on a few roads.Coming through SH4 to SH3,how is the surface lately, will come out at Ahititi and enjoy the coast road to New Plymouth.

Sunday thinking of heading to Whanga pub,has anyone done the road from Tikorangi to Te Wera and if my mind recalls a bit of gravel still exists at Matau/Purangi from Tarata to Tiki is ok.And thinking of going up East Egmont and Plateau along the way.

Monday go via Surf H/way or Wiremu Rd to Opunake, then upto Dawson Falls, lunch in Hawera.

Anyone keen to join us is welcome, also staying at che Boobs fine establishment,so keen to have a few quiets up town with a meal, not drink like last time lol.

Great ride yesterday Publican at the Whanga pub threatened to kick over and burn our bikes as retaliation for us causing him to be too busy to go for a ride himself in such awesome weather.

Roads all in good condition with the only exceptions being new seal on SH4 a few kms before the 8 mile junction and new seal also at Mahoenui Hill and Uruti Valley. I would assume all will be swept of loose chip before Easter. Minor road works on SH4 north of Taumaranui and on SH3 at Tongaporutu both have traffic lights.

Weather looks good for Easter but if wet the large amounts of tar bleed on SH4 will be tricky.

Do you realise the 'Waitangas' from Ohura to Ahititi is metalled road?

I'll be up for a ride next weekend between finding a few cray's if seas allow.

Had a feeling the road through Ahititi was slightly gravel so will enjoy the T/H (Tasman Highway,my new name for that road to NP).

Ah crays, whitebait and beers now that is bliss. Then top it off with a beaut bbq rump steak and bourbon and red wine, bloody bliss.

Didn't have time to drop into Mokau for whitebait but got the beers covered by scoring a few flagons from Mike's (Whitecliffs) Brewery on the way home yesterday

Last time I looked the road is still metal from Purangi through to SH43.

It's a long time since I rode that stretch but "a bit of metal" doesn't quite seem to cover it, but then the grader had been through not long before. For others though it might be playtime...

Did that route to Whanga a couple of years back. About 15km of loose 2-3 inch rocks recently graded so next to no wheel tracks to follow. Absolutely hated that ride and can't imagine it being enjoyable riding on anything on two wheels Definitely not suitable for two-up on a large sports tourer and not one of my better decisions

The Road Through Purangi-Matau out to SH43 is a complete dog, me and some mates went through there for something different on our way out to the last whanga republic day. 30 odd K's of loose, windy, gravelly anguish. Never again. I might be keen to join your meander depending on how family commitments pan out this weekend.
