    Hi

Bike threw itself at the road at the suggestion of gravel and now needs it's dignity restored. Indicators, engine covers and brake levers. Know anyone with a magic box from which this stuff might spring?

    All sweet there.
Dave has a heap of info on the old beasts.
He even put together a CD of XJ information.

dude do you mean the crank end cover,In behind it well burried is the crank end seal. Anyhoo if ya get stuck Ive got a cover that will do the job
EXTERNAL engine parts for those bikes are interchangeable from 1983-1989. Indicators wise you wont have too many issues getting them new.
Again any model xj900 indicator will fit. also XZ400/550. FJ1100/1200 1980's models use the same indicator shell. You can pull em to bits.
Brake lever wise--fronts again are prety universal.
I think Ive got a rear lever kicking around here somewheres.

Have a close look at the lower rear rairing mount.I wouldnt be suprised if thats almost snapped off and better to fix it before it fails

Hi Frosty. That's excellent news. The crank end cover is exactly what I'm after and I've had no luck at any local wrecker or with Dave in Timaru. The thing comes basically in two pieces, the outside plate with Yamaha YICS on it and a backing piece that's hollow (then there's a rubber gasket). If you've got either or both these bits of metal to part with it's fantastic news. I'm at gandm.belcher@clear.net.nz and/or if you give me a phone contact I'll get back to you to discuss. Cheers.

You won't get too much out of Dave these days other than a bit of info... He's got rid of his XJ's and is now cruising around on an XJR1300

Frosty... What parts have you got? I'm on the hunt for a front fender.

XJ... Try www.cycletreads.co.nz for the indicators and brake lever... they have a good cheap aftyermarket universal indicator that fit straight on.

Sorry can't help with the engine covers.. I'm hanging on to mine. They're too hard to get.

    Hi
Yeah I phoned Dave. You're right, he no longer had parts, but still a good bloke to talk to. I called into Cycletreads Chch (they're good value too) and they're having a look through their collection of old stuff to see if they can come up with an indicator. There's guy on Trademe currently selling his partially complete Xj900 project bike and a bundle of spares, including a front fender. He's looking for someone to buy the lot rather than sell parts individually (unless no one wants the bunde). You might want to keep an eye on that auction. Cheers

nope basicly Ive only got the brake lever--ALLY not steel and an engine cover --but its not genuine XJ900 its xj750 but unless a purist it will do the job. --its the old one piec type only good for RH crank end cos it doesnt cleqar the rotor on the left

Thanks Frosty.. it's the right hand that went down and if the 750 one piece cover will do the job that would be great. I have a local wrecker looking, but if he is unsuccessful ( suspect he will be) I'll email you to arrange a purchase.
Will also continue asking about brake lever locally and get back to you about that. Thanks for the advice about interchangeability amongst the models and the fairing, which I'll check out. Cheers
