    No riding for 6 weeks

I had a bit of a 'boys can't multi task' incident on Monday at school.

    Here's the situation,
Its first period monday morning in 6th form and you have a wood class, the subject which can't be easier and is more a socializing period.

We're making a deck for an 'old school' type skateboard so we need moulds to form the ply, we decide to make it out of a few pieces of 4x2 so we need to cut a curve into it with a bandsaw.

We needed to cut 6 pieces to make up the width of the board and cutting 45mm on a bandsaw isn't too easy.

I start talking to a mate a few metres away about saturday night. Now you know the last mm of a cut, it's so tempting and you apply more pressure, at that same time feel a sting that I never have before.

Down to the bone the blade goes on the inside of my left thumb, ambulance gets rung and long story short it was planned to stitch me up that day but in the end required surgery and 2 nights in Tga hospital as I damaged a tenant and couldn't move the top of my thumb.

Now I'm home since last night with my left arm in a cast fully surrounding my thumb with only the 4 fingers to move for 2 weeks, then get stitches out and get a splint for my hand for another 4 weeks.

I may not get full strength back in it and at the moment can only feel a tingle in my thumb when touched, thats not expected to be 100% in the end.

Got to love the total of 14 pills of painkiller a day though, sleep like a baby!!

I had an 18 hour weekend job which I have ACC cover for for 6 weeks so I can be a teenager watching TV getting paid.

I'll see how I go at school, can't write being a leftie with my left hand in a cast.

    Be careful at school!!

    Holy shit dude!

A guy at my school last year dropped a big file and a piece broke off and pinged into someones eye. The ambulance came for that too...

    Be careful dude

Still Good effort tho.. top marks for actually getting to keep it.

Its expected to not have permanent damage but may not get full sensitivity back.

6 Iburofen tablets and 8 Paracetamol a day, I dont know what does what. =)

Saturday night, well umm lets say I got a little more out of it than him.

The doctors at the hospital did have a sense of hurmor, my discharge summary thing had 'Bandsaw vs. Thumb' in the reason for admission field.

If it means anything to anyone, I 'lacerated' my FPL tendon and radial digital nerve.

    Oooh, silly boy!
I work in a tradeskills class, and it surprises me that thre are not more accidents TBH.
Can you get someone to take notes for you in class? or borrow their notes and photocopy them. Go to scjhool, even if you can't write, at least you can listen and learn!

You'd better stick an apostrophe, comma and fullstop in your post then.

Maybe it was the donkey's arse hat, in which case there would be no apostrophe... and sorry to be pedantic (but someone has to be), but full stop should actually be two words!
