The pace varies depending on who shows up and what mood everyone is in. But usually we maintain a good road pace, the guys at the front don't tend to slow down for the corners at all and the guys at the back do. We all concertina back together again at the next corner or stop point.

I for one don't mind slower riders along as long as they can maintain a reasonable road pace so the day doesn't take until next week. It can be a good place to get some tips and advice and improve your riding, plus they are all a good bunch to get along with, except for that guy on the streetfighter

Pretty much as per Boris & Quacker said.

Everyone rides at their own pace (most important to not go quicker than u feel comfortable doing!). The quicker ones wait for the more conservative ones at next intersection or rally point. The front guys aren't mad and don't treat it like a SH16 GP, and the only real difference is that they don't slow down for corners as much, and get on it earlier/harder coming out of the corners. I suspect that we all probably do similar (and sensible) normal open road speeds on the straights. So as long as your 250 (and you) can comfortably cruise at normal open road speeds, you'll be fine.

They are good, fun, days. Good company (cept that guy on the streetfighter that we don't talk about). You'll learn lots. Just remember that we all had to start somewhere, and don't try to over extend yourself to try and keep up. That's no fun for you, and that's when accidents happen. You'll also find that it'll take you a few rides before u start to get to know the roads, which makes a big difference as well.

    Wow is this KB?
everyone saying sensible things and no smack talk (except for you know who)

as has been said all are welcome as long as you can ride at open road speeds and don't go faster than your comfortable.
    We will wait for you.

actually the guy on the streetfighter (Outforaduck) can be helpful and does like to help improve your riding.

The trend has been to ride north and have lunch in waipu , mangawhai or any other place anyone suggests.

I do think we should go south one day for a change

Cool, cheers guys. My riding so far has just been commuting and I'd like that to change. I think I'm going to be quite slow on the tighter corners, I'm comfortable at the straighter bits, head down SH17 every day to get to town but that's almost a straight line.

I need to build my confidence on the tighter corners and that's only gonna happen by getting out and doing it. I might go get some practise time on my own first so that I'm not so slow that it gets to be a bit of a drag waiting for me. I don't mind being last to get to a meeting point but I don't want you to have to book in to a hotel while you wait either, cause I'm not gonna go any faster than I'm happy with.

It would be a shame to have these roads just outside my front door and not make use of them, so yeah, I'll come along but not just yet me thinks. I reckon I could hold you up too much at the moment.

Don't let all our crappy talk put you off.
I had only had six months riding when i first went on the Sunday ride. I was at the back all the time and everyone waited for me, and now i return the favour (not that i'm at the front).
Its a good ride, with some good riders and there is no pressure to go faster than you are comfortable with.
Come along on Sunday and see.
so just come along and see for yourself

as you are just down the road from me you should do the Green road loop.
17 onto greens, onto sunnyside to coatville/riverhead highway back to 17.
If you do that on your way to/from work you will get to learn corners very quickly.

I went along once, and found it helpful, but my work hours have changed. I don't finish work till 7 so by the time I get home and have had a feed it's all over rover.

I'd also like to tag along as a newbie(ish) 250 rider. Maybe we can both go this weekend (if SWMBO allows me) and keep each other company miles behind everyone else ?
