    pushbike accidents

After the news of a few peoples pushbike accidents, i was wondering, how many people on here have had serious (off school/work kinda thing) pushbike accidents (since the first part of actually learning how to ride)

I have had one serious one, while pushing my riding and bikes ability past their line.

I have literally lost comunt after flipping countless times, hitting cars walls etc... ive had my worst injuries from pushbikes and have ended up in hospital a few time due to them....

Worst one was losing control at 40kmh, hitting a brick wall, then as i somorsaulted over the wall, my arm caught the corner of a metal letterbox, ripping it big gash open... that hurt quite a bit.... Ive written of more pushbikes than motorbikes.... but im working on that

Yeah, I fall off all the time, nothing too major. Mostly from stunting down hills...

I thought trips to the emergency doctors was just part of growing up. Im sure I have caused my parents a large amount of grief from the dumb things I have done on pushbikes.
Worst one i can remember is putting a pole from a letterbox into my knee cap, that wasn't much fun.

Yip been there done that, mostley while MTB cross country racing...... but one of the funnyest would be on the Giant when it was new, the lads were out frount so I poped the frount wheel up and mono'd right between them straight up to the frount....... kinda had picked a little speed up by now, I started to go over backwards so my feet came off the pegs... umm pedels as the bike was new I dident want to scratch it so I hang on tight.... but due to the speed I couldent run faster nuf to keep up with it so I ended up triping over the thing. End result was 3 ribs and a wicked core sample out of my chest, ohh yeah then 2 out of the 4 other riders ran over me.
    cheers DD

Arrow Got a mod mountian bike.

Shocks, disc brakes etc. Tell you what, there has been quite a few times that I reckon that I should have come off, but for whatever reason have not. All my decient accidents on a pushbike happened while I was still at school.

Managed a day off work after failing to give way and writing off my bike into the front of an MR2.

Turning across two lanes of traffic I went behind the large vehicle in the lane closest to me only to find the wee MR2 was obscured behind the aforementioned 4x4

Very angry that I wrote off a very nice bike and some sunglasses I could never replace

I landed an enormous jump on the front wheel, which snapped my new carbon fibre frame and I ended up going into the ground headfirst, smashed the helmet down the middle into 2 pieces and ended up with a broken back.

Moved to wellington and decided to cane down Mt Vic, came around a corner with a bus on my side of the road and ended up lowsiding into the bus with the bike jammed under the back wheels, In a t-shirt and shorts...... I visited the burns unit of the hospital.

Then fucked up a big dropoff up mt vic, landed sideways on my ankle which twisted my leg till it snapped.

Only two majors (which pale in comparison to the rest....)

1st: hit gravel going extra fast (for me), slid knee down road and lost ALL the skin off it and had a major dent in the shin of the other leg (and it's still there 14 years later...). Had to hitch-hike into the doctor's surgery (about 7k's).....folks don't want to pick you up off the side of the road when you are covered in blood. Two days later I was back cycling the 15 k's to my daily nursey visits

2nd: last year some bint decided to park on top of me. Two really badly sprained wrists and a bike seat wedged where the sun don't shine.......

This year, so far so good......

Yep, i've had 2 biggies on my MTB. Both ended up in hospital.

First one was about 10 years ago. Cut my shin on the pedal down to the bone. Had to have an operation and stay a few nights in hospital. Second was over the handle bars doing around 50 after school one day. Landed square on my helmet (saved my life) and smashed it into 15 or so pieces. Even got a ride in an ambulance for that one, lol. Just kept in for observation for a few hours cause i was KO'd for a few mins.

Apart from those there are heaps of other minor ones. The two above are definately worse than the 2 motorbike crashes i have had aswell. Thats what saftey gear's for i guess.
