BMW researching “Cross Traffic Assistant” to protect bikes at junctions

BMW is developing a “cross traffic assistant” to improve safety for motorcyclists at junctions.

The assistant is intended to work by processing inputs from a differential GPS navigation on the motorcycle as well as other vehicles. With the signals transmitted via a modified WiFi connection, the assistant warns both vehicles. The possibility also exists to for the technology to ensure that the vehicle with right of way is the one allowed to proceed.

Only to be hit by a car without this technology. Your eyes are still the number 1 device to keep you safe out there.

Like the idea, but until everyone can afford to install the advanced models as the last poster said, the eyes r our number 1 safety instrument.
