Dont care if it get hot and sticky
Ive only got one layer of skin,
and I am not donating that to transit new zealand to resurface any road.
When it rains , on goes my bright orange PVC wet weater gear.
Who the fuck cares what it looks like,
I can be seen, Im dry, and I still get to keep my skin if I hit the road.
Cost of leather bike pants $150
Cost of skin graft ( taxpayers money thus mine) $ ???,???.??
Right on! Second that. I couldn't care less if I look over the top with safety, it *MY* safety not theirs.

good thick jeans would be ok round town as far as a short slide goes...no impact protection though.Hellava lot better than shorts or thin synthetic!

OK, tomorrow I'm wearing my jeans again (this morning I wore just my thin poly-something work trousers with $70 Revit waterproof pants over the top). Hmmmm. But I don't have proper thick motorbike pants, so interested to hear others' opinions / experiences on jeans in accidents at city speeds...? Not enough? My morning commute involves the 70kph bit along Aotea Quay if its dry, and all the rest is in town primarily along the waterfront (apart from the 60kph bit along the Old Hutt Road, where everyone seem to speed!.)
Makes you think doesn't it.....,Hell, as I get older I get thoughts on my bike like "if I were suddenly dumped onto the road at this speed how fucked up would I be?"

Been riding my entire life and have only ever worn jeans at best. In another thread someone claimed gluing patches of leather on the inside of your jeans made a pretty worthy set of bike pants but I can neither confirm or deny this would be the case, But it would have to be better then just jeans and cost very little.

Ha ha i had full leathers riding around on my Suzuki tu 250

I didn't get any photos taken, so i don't know what i looked like, but i saw someone looking with a big grin o there face, could be taken either way! didn't think on it, but i took that bike everywhere on dirt and tarmac at as good a clip as it would go, rubbing your barefoot gently over tarmac road gives you an idea what it would feel like comming off at speed, id stick to my leathers no matter what it looked like.
Thou did levitate across a road comming off a motorbike in Thailand with only some muslin pants on, took a little bit of skin off, don't know how i got away with that, this is why i mention i must of levitated!
