and both swee and jafa have bailed out!
first in first served, kids - an xl125 and yz250
Hmm, I'm keen for the yz250, but I'd need to rent some gear.
Also would need a lift.
Do tell how it went, sorry again that I couldn't go. ): Just got home. I should be able to go next week. : D
Hmmmm. Went well untill about 3.30pm, had fun and such all good. Then i fell and bent my bars, andrew took a detour to the other side of the park where he found a cliff to ride on. search party went out then he was back at the cars when we got back.

no.. not a tree. just a straight road with some bumps and a wheelie gone wrong.. sigh. (damn retard moments.)
il let the other guys fill in the detail :P
i must admit, that was a very impressive bail man! when i stopped i thought i was there to help you pick of the pieces of your bike.. and well... pieces of you that might have been lying around as well! for what it looked like, you got off pretty wellwhat did your dad say about his not so unbendable handle bars ?
i must say zzzbang is a fast rider, and that the 06 yz450f with steering dampener can clearly corner faster and traverse whoops easier than my 98 yz400f with a leaky fork and shocking rear rim. first few corners i hit at his pace involved a bit of "oh shit'" and a lot of sideways sliding of both wheels
off a cliff
me and zzzbang planned to go to the superbowl then big dipper - get to the first major junction at the end of the main access track and he's nowhere to be seen due to aforementioned wheelie. wondering where he is i wait for aaages then go on anyway, have a good play in the bowl and then go onto the dipper (noob crash on the way where i may have twisted the front end a little). straight in and out of the dipper with no troubles (only guy to hit it all day). on one of the hills shortly thereafter i'm riding along, thinking 'man i don't wanna fall off that', at which point the bike nearly does. I get her under control and then it just steers 90 degrees straight off the track
but not to worry, a tree stopped the bike after a couple of metres leaving me curled up on my back, upside down in the cutty-grass under the bike
climbed back up and saw that pulling her back up the hill was a bit out of the question considering the slope to be about 5 degrees shy of vertical. no way the quad could do that track nor tow it out and as it just started raining i cbf walking back. So, I have a brief attempt at hauling the bike out, then I put some branches across the track and went for a walk to see if i could ride her out: some grunting later, some bees, a very steep hill decent through bush, a trip through a swamp and a bail on an old fencepost and i am back on the track. get back to the carpark and apparently i've been gone for 40 minutes and everyone is out looking for me![]()
cleaned?!
psssh, if there's no battle scars or love bites then you're wasting a lot of valuable riding time![]()
That sounds just like us down here on the Coromandel when we go exploring!
some days we use hardly any gas cos we spend so long figuring out how we will get the bikes from point A to point B when we have gullys swamps and gorse in the way!
I heard from a pig hunter just the other day about a massive 80 metre waterfall that is in the hills on a straight line between Katikati and Te Aroha.
I asked a pilot mate and he confirmed that it is there and is huge and seems to have tracks nearby so I got my maps out. Yep its all marked, with tracks too.
So now Im looking for two or three hard bastards to come find it with me!
It looks about 20km from the road
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......
No casualties or hospital trips? That's good. Damn I missed a very eventful day!
Well, new bars are fitted and ready for the next ride![]()
