hes got a way with words dont he....
So... what's the voltage at the battery terminals when running. Have you charged the battery off the bike or are you trying to charge it from flat using the bike's charging system?
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
the volts are round 11.24 when i checked... but were going down when i turn on lights etc.... and i charge it off the bike... got the charger from the granddad....
if you wana know the volts from stator there about 13.64 idle and 14.22 at 4000 rpm...

I wonder if the battery is poked.

"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."

Sigh...
From memory - fzr should have about 70V AC between each lead of the 3 phase alternator...... (nb - its an alternator NOT a generator.)
Depending on model - fzrs have major issues with earthing the rect / reg unit and you need to run an earth from the alloy mounting plate to the chassis, the motor and to the earth side of the batt.
The earthing of the reg / rect is often via some pop rivets, these corrode and go hi resistence.
So how did you get on?
Pretty sure the manual is quite detailed on testing procedures? (from memory)
I agree with Paul. Almost to the point of running a big butty earth wire.
That said try the ol Kiss principle.
Ie look at all the simple stuff first.
Try disconnecting the battery and hooking up a battery you know is in good nick. see if you get the same result.
check the plugs from the charge system to the reg/rec then onwards to the battery.
again as paul said check/replace earth wires.
