What a clever race that young mekin ran!!! 2 out three ain't bad!!
Mind...that aprillia ain't going to bad for a new bike....might potentially make a mint superbike/bears bike in NZ.
yea tha aprilia can motor. nice race by spies.
but come on. supersport racing is the way to go. good on laverty and its ssssssssssssooooooooooooooooo good to see parkalgor finally, finally get a win.
Spies is really judging the race well, dare I say it, a little Rossi like in the way he sits and waits 'till the last few laps and then pulls the plug.
Nice work by the top three really, left the rest behind big time.
Reckons Spies will win the championship with two rounds spare. I tend to agree.
You know what's a real shame, the fact that Troy Bayliss retired the year before Spies started. Not that would be a hell of a championship race.
Vote David Bain for MNZ president
I'm just stoked to see the Ape on the podium in the second round. That's pretty darn impressive IMO! Even Nakano wasn't too far down the pack so it'll be interesting to see whether these two guys can maintain it.
looks like spies has the ability, not to mention the bike.I think Haga will be the main threat,if he can stay on the bike and if he can press home the advantage on the "ducati tracks".But with all the brands there now looks like agood racing all through the feild.I am sure we will have some surprises too!
The RSV4 - Yea its doing great but what about the first time up BMW? That managed to have both in the top 10 in the second race. They have very little data to go by compared to the Aprilia boys. No doubt Aprilia is benifiting from the data gained from running the RSVR in previous years - That and having Biaggi may have a lil to do with it. Not to mention the Big Bang Yamaha - thats all new too.
God I would love an RSV4 though! I think its going to be a bit of a legendary bike in time.
Gotta love the comment the Ducati crew chief noted prior to the races - "Spies - we can do nothing about that".
Haga must be feeling pretty ripped off at the moment. This was going to be his year - he had the ride on the Ducati - Bayliss has retired, it was ment to be. Then Yamaha recruited this US Gun - and he is on his old ride too - well old team anyway.
rsvr has not raced in superbike the rsv(Mille) race back in 99-00 or something like that.
Yes BMW has done very well also, but with corser on it i wouldn't expect it to be mid pack, i was expecting the rsv4 to be mid pack, for first half of season also.
Spies best lap time was as good as Vermulens!![]()
WSBK must be rubbing their hands on having such a great looking series this year.
