    By the time I (likely) lose my licence (for something I don't remember) and get it back again it's going to be about 9 months sans bike

    'Floating' barrels don't take out 'recoil inputs from the shooter'. Where'd you hear that bollocks? And how do you think it's supposed to work?

    'Floating' barrels are the sort that don't rest directly on the stock around them, which stops the point of aim from changing as the barrel heats and expands.

    Even my .22 has a floating barrel and there's still recoil (well as much recoil as one gets from a .22)

    Shit that is close to the bone,mind you some guys (testers) are say deer stalkers club members,smallbore members(well when I did mine years ago,small town)as some small areas don't have specialised arms officer in the force/station.

    It is the muzzle brake that reduces the felt recoil. Floating the barrel is for accuracy.
