    Was Jantar on TV1 tonight?

Sitting there eating my tea with brain at half mast watching the news item about the Alexandra annual rabbit shoot. Saw a figure in the background for all of 2 or 3 seconds doing a kill count but I swear it looked like Malcolm. Still, all the residents of those southern towns have striking similarities, don't they mate?

Thought you'd be out on the 'strom chasing the little buggers over the hills!

He's there a couple of times. First time walking through shot in background screen-right to screen-left. Second time as you said - counting up the wascally wabbits. Distinctive in blue cap and blue jeans. Nice coordination there, Mal!!

    A reduction in rabbit numbers...

over the weekend, a sudden reduction in rabbit numbers was noticed. Lead poisoning is suspected as the cause. But a similar sudden decrease in rabbit numbers has been noticed at this time each year. In Central Otago anyway.

Yeah Geoff, that was me. The row of rabbits they showed me counting was ManDownUnder's team kill. As a member of the orginising commitee I wasn't eligible to enter.

Then Nasty was on with her piece as well. So tonight was a real KB TV night.

The rabbits are just dumped. The way that they end up after a shotgum blast there's not much left thats edible.

Why not use rifles then? What with it being Easter and all I thought a rabbit omelette would be the way to go.

Too hard to hit moving rabbits with any regularity with a rifle.

It's easter - you have to combine it with an egg somehow. Eggs and stew just sounds weird.

We shot 510 Rabbits, 20 odd short of a guaranteed spot in next years event, so it's back to the ballot system for us.
MDU, Speedy girl and myself braved the elements and did the hard yards, but my hat goes off to MDU for managing to go a whole 24 hours and never once asked who had the portable espresso machine.
