Seeing all the dead rabbits lined up it would appear the rabbit caclvirus didn't turn out to be the end of the high country rabbit problem after all.
How much do shotgun shells cost when purchased in bulk? Would it be worth paying for rabbit control that way?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

We paid $120 for a slab of 250 rounds, Which is a pretty sharp price.
From memory the total Rabbit take was 14799, 600 less than last year and from what I understand RCD still ticks over but is far less effective than it once was.

Shooting from a helicopter on a regular basis, is also the norm in some parts of Central Otago.

I remember my old man telling me how he went on the Easter Bunny Shoot in 1990 with his AK-47 on the back of a flatbed truck with his mates from the assault rifle club.
He said an AK can make a rabbit disappear....!!!!

Never was that dramatic when I shot them with an AK47, they kinda cart-wheeled a tad but still looked flasher than the one in peaseas road-kill pic on the Easter thread.

    Got more splat using a 30-06 with 110grain hollow-points...

Rifles also have this nasty habit of sending lead a looooong way over hills and the like too. We had a few complaints from team members of that little zinging noise echoing around them as they walked. Still no idea where it came from but it sure we'ren't me.

Shotguns are good although the shoulders get sore after a slab of decent ammo.

What I failed to mention was that it was at night, the searchlight was on the bunny and everyone let loose.....probably more like 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 into a bunny !!

I got more "splat" with a SLR 7.62.... "AK's" just slow 'em down ...

But for a bunny shoot... you need smaller rounds to get the final count up...
