    XR600 Adventure Bike

The legendary stump-pulling XR600... A great fun machine that will do serious trails or the length of the country.

This one is set up as a hard-core adventure bike. It comes with:
    Ventura rack,
Near new rear MT63 tyre and 60% worn IRC Trail Winner on front
Spare set of part-worn Michelin AC10 road legal knobbly tyres (if sold for a reasonable amount),
Ascerbis long-distance tank with new XR's Only graphics, (plus original as well also with new graphics)
Ascerbis Dimension HP halogen light and surround.
    LED rear light and indicators.
    New Ballards seat cover.
    New clutch cable.
Bar risers and taper bars with plastic over metal bark-busters.
Will have new chain and sprockets when sold.
Registration runs to October 2010, and will have new WOF on sale.

I have replaced the choke plate with the XR's Only item (only weak point on XR600's). The pipe is off a WR450 - passes WOF no problem. Very good performance - huge torque - fun on or off road. These bikes will out-perform modern DR650's or KLR650's and they are lighter. These were also lighter and less complex than the more modern water cooled XR650's.

I've just had the top end done at 30,000km including new piston and cam chain and re-faced valves (receipt for $1000 from Whangarei Yamaha). After run-in I did a 3800km trip to Timaru and back. Currently being serviced (the auto decompression spring broke while I was away).

Only selling as I'm doing a lot of travelling with my work so needing more of a road bike and can't afford to have both.

May be interested in swap for midweight sports-tourer (or maybe a twin adventure bike) with maybe a bit of cash your way.

Could put the original tank back on and keep the spare tyres and knock the price back a little too maybe. More pics on Trademe listing.

    would you sell the bike...

and give the new owner the sprocket and new chain to put on? Nice to learn about the bike....
Plus, I figure this is the kicker start only, not like the XL model right?
What sort or range do you gey with the Ascerbis? 300km or more?
    Thanks....
Oh, is the saddle poked or you just dollying it up?
Got me thinking if the Katie sells or the Husaberg, I am gonna have to buy something...
If I travelled light, what sort of speed does this do on the open road? Comfy for 120Kph or more?

Actually the mechanic reckons there's plenty of life in the chain - he's going to take a link out for me (I'd run out of adjustment). So it will come with some spare sprockets - a 48 tooth that's only had a little use and new front front 14 tooth and a used 15 I think.

Turns out the cam chain tensioner had broken! Fortunately no damage done. He's repaired and I pick it up tomorrow.

The seat cover was actually fine - I just wanted to make it look better with the Red/Orange tank. I actually put the black one over top as I thought it may give a little more comfort which it does.

On my trip I got 380km to reserve, then 25km to second reserve (other side has a tap too), so potentially 430km till empty (and that was with my huge load). And yes it is a kicker, but it keeps it super light having no battery/starter. Part of it's beauty is in it's simplicity.

I generally cruised at about 110 with the load on, but could easily cruise at 120 if you wanted to - and it has lots of passing power up to 140km/h.

    XR600 to your door...

Yeah I know what you mean... hope you get a sale soon. Looks like I might be getting a VStrom 650. Had a ride on a mates one yesterday... they're a very sweet ride.

I'm driving down south later today as far as Hamilton then to Opotiki tomorrow - anybody want an XR600 delivered to your door - no charge (for the delivery that is!)

Hey did you sell your ktm? Can't see it on there today (maybe I missed it). I have a guy very keen on the XR600 so if anybody else wants it be in today I'd say.

Yeah we are a nosy bunch. I bought the VStrom from The Vet today. It pretty good - not immaculate but well looked after.

I pick it up on Sunday . Hopefully dropping off the XR600 to the guy I was talking to this morning (there is still time - I'd love a fellow KBer to get it)...

Buyer is now looking at a couple of others without the adv gear... so there is still time everyone (and that is another option - I sell the rack, tyres, tank, halogen headlight etc separate and drop the price a bit).
